  1. i started with raiser bars and flew over the handlebars once a ride on average, all changed when i went to flats which i enjoyed for years but struggled with more technical stuff. now refitted some raiser bars, much more comfy and better handling and no flying sessions, turns out the width makes a big diffirence, the previous raiser bars were 580's the new ones are 640's. not sure how one copes with anything wider than that tho. and yes, cane creeks at the ends
  2. sigh.... you buy bikes and stuff from cajees, thats it. but they should not be allowed to touch the thing, not even assemble, haggle them down, buy at the good price, and take to a proper mechanic to reassemble and service from thereon. simple
  3. so how many people usually ride this one? Ive entered, booke a cottage so now a good reason to train during the cold months
  4. it seems to be a general issue with these wheels, check the reviews on MTBR.com, far too many people complaining about the hubs/freewheel bodies failing and it seems that AC support is completely underwhelming. Just as good, i was quite interested in a pair but will stay far away
  5. i understand that guy in the Cradle who is hostile towards cyclist and caused all the issues were arrested, anybody know some more details?
  6. so to change the topic somewhat, when investors do business in politically unstable countries they take out political risk insurance, which provide cover for loss due to political events, amonst others, expropriation (i.e. government takes your land/property without market ralated compensation - like what Malema promotes), if a product like that was available at individual level would anybody go for something like that?
  7. interested to test one, i am not a good climber so that may be an issue
  8. sigh....
  9. thanks been cycling/mtbing for years and did not know this engagement story. are the hopes just hubs or wheels, if wheels how much do they weigh and how much do you want, ive just build up my hardtail again and hope to "engage" the hubby to get better wheels, currently have dt swiss 455 on, and i can feel quite a diffirence (slower) between them and xtr wheels/mavic crossmax sl wheelson the other bikes
  10. good on you Burnie. I find when my brake dies on me, i reload the driver software and reboot the PC then usually all is fine. Coolheat will honour if you bought from TACX overseas but not CRC, as far as i know. I also find the new Tacx trainer software, especially version 3 sucks, the old fortuis software is much more stable.
  11. thanks where can i have a look at the bag?
  12. i am interested to buy the momentum 94.7 bag on special for R3850 but need to know if a MTB can fit into it, if not do you have bags like that?
  13. what on earth is "engagement rate" never heard of that, please educate
  14. do what i did to my hubby when we were married for 6 months when i ran out of salt, add a heaped tablespoon of aromat to your oats, see how much you can eat without puking. after that you will appreciate your oats again
  15. okay hgow does this help one, sorry this technology paassed me unnoticed, can somebody please bring me up to speed....
  16. i am not clear, what was his position before the crash?
  17. so what other elite riders were there?
  18. it again all comes back to reasonableness, not always fair and sometimes unfortunate. So its unfortunate if a todler leaves a door open and the pooch causes havoc, but its reasonable to expect the owner to remain liable for the consequenses, its maybe not so reasonable to expect forestry to keep wildlife out of sight from roads? I am in the same boat, my Scottish Terrier Higgens eats stones, at R10k a pop to take it out he cost me more than half a Toyota Tazz by now, despite all my efforts to get him to stop, inluding taking him to two head schrinks. So I want to own him as a dog, i need to take whatever precautions, (lots of toys, undevided attention, daily walks in the park, snacks, and finally a dog of his own etc etc) or else he eats a stone, and if he does i must take the costs thereof on the chin. (I am not entering into a debate about the metits of allowing to be intimidated by him)
  19. if you want to own a dog its simply your responsibility to ensure it is under control at all times, so its fair to pay up, although the claim must be reasonable, its equally irretating when people try to unfairly enrich themselves out of an event like this.
  20. sigh.....men! just buy a new pair
  21. minjim things have changed on the hub bro, lately its more inflamitory to mention 29er than doing spam
  22. he actually says he services his own bike, so that makes it even more interesting
  23. did the "great western cape bike ride" a couple of years ago, started in george, up to oudshoorn and then some small towns along r62, about 80ks a day, we did tented accomodation supplied but literally all the towns had guesthouses available at very reasonable prices, I am thinking of doing it again privately sometime. sure if you google it you will find the detail. are you doing it supported or completely on your own?
  24. you say one can ride in the canyon? would be really interesting, heat, boulders, sand, and not sure what level the river is either over easter
