  1. this already exists https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum/links/category/10-manufacturers/
  2. Not to downplay the initiative in any way but there are always two sides to every coin and highlighting something like this on Carte Blanch could have the opposite affect. It could highlight to a number of unscrupulous people what easy targets cyclists are and thus increase bike jacking in areas where it never happened previously. just a thought
  3. it was 6 degrees in hillcrest at 6 this morning. I'm sure there were polar bears doing laps in my pool.
  4. check out the look/polar JV. http://www.bicycling.com/bikes-gear/2011-bike-and-gear-previews/look-keo-power-pedals
  5. You need to remember that you will have a different heart rate max for different sports. You would certainly get your heart rate higher if you were doing running intervals.
  6. Check out this site, Based in Durban it's essentially a spinning class all based on power output. http://www.cadencecycling.co.za/
  7. Jarek, are you comfortable doing somersaults on a a trampoline?

  11. It's called, wait for it ....hand cleaner and is used primarily in the automotive workshop trade. you can probably buy it at midas or autozone.
  12. Chaps, just remember that there is always 3 sides to every story. 1) The Customers Side 2) The Sellers side 3) THE TRUTH!
  13. When a bike shop sells a new bike do they capture the buyers details and pass them back to the distributor? Maybe the distributors will then update a central database (not held by CSA, maybe ROAG). It would need to be thrashed out but the reality is that it probably won't work. Lots of races can't even organise a decent registration. Can you imagine trying to get everyone's bike serial number checked too and how many weekend warriors are there that never ride any races but have top end bikes. It will however offer some peace of mind to a buyer with knowledge but how would a novice walking into a secondhand shop in, lets say the western cape, know to go and check a bike registry?
  14. scroll down a little. it is there
  15. Cycling is only illegal on National highways (N roads) and on other roads where the freeway sign is shown. M roads are quite legal to cycle on, if no freeway sign is shown.
  16. oops, just seen that lengthy reply. Niels, if you were there alone and had never seen the men who brought the bike in and had no contact details why did you let them take the bike? How did you know they were the same people who brought the bike in? Maybe they stole it from you! ....nice try but you're not going to fool us.
  17. I suggest, that before buying, you actually ride a couple of these bikes. some bikes are just a better fit than others.
  18. Yes it does. The footpod option is only for those who like to run in forests, cities with numerous tall skyscrapers or indoors on treadmills where the wrist unit cannot get satellite signal. Be aware that the battery life is said to be 10 hours but the 310XT it is 20 hours. see https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=349 https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=142&pID=27335
  19. you just have to think that everyone on the road is an idiot and that they will do the unexpected!
  20. A mate just posted this on facebook: Tour Durban registration ...what a disaster. One long que that hardly moves and ten other people standing around doing zip. I doubt the enquiries person even knows her own name, let alone which que to join for pre entry...FAIL
  21. it's the same everywhere. twice now whist out running in daylight on a road with no pavement I have been forced off the road by ....the metro police.
  22. I struggle to fathom how a bike can make you fitter, would you not get the same result if you changed your gearing on a 26' ? It seems you need to do a proper HRmax test!
  23. and ..how did you go?
  24. will you beat the lead runner up the "nek"?
  25. I have seen groups leaving from the parking lot outside of Spar in Kloof, usually at 5am (try calling bring it on cycles) and also from the parking lot at Oscars.
