  1. Hairspray ... soz, doing three different tasks.
  2. Grips. A liberal dousing of hairspray inside and on the bars, pop on. Done.
  3. 1.77 at 70kg, also on a medium. Changed to a 80mm stem and 730mm flat bars.
  4. You'll find danger, get a haircut
  5. Went and shot the Pirates 21km on the weekend. Green Joburg at sunrise is a thing. https://www.instagram.com/p/CLm5LTlnX_P/
  6. Silly name for a silly bike .....
  7. Very much this. Although once I did politely tell a prospective buyer off (who had a good trader rating) who came in with an absolute lowball offer. On top of it the tone and language was like they were doing me a favour. On the flipside of the OP's issue though is also people making contact either as a buyer or seller, more often a buyer. And then ghosting. That's just naai, but dealing with the bike and media industry that just seems to be par for the course bad manners and disrespect.
  8. More or less the same circumstance's, although I was involved in a retail operation where we dealt a lot with Titan directly. Thoroughly enjoying the Cypher and ito of lateral stiffness it's far stiffer than the Yeti ARC I previously owned. In fact I realised how squirelly the rear end could be on the ARC. That said the ARC frameset and build was about a half kg lighter and acceleration was quicker. In an ideal world I would have held onto the ARC and built it into a proper race sled or converted to a monster gravel bike with drop barrs and 90mm RS1 forks.
  9. Nice feedback, also own a Cypher 120mm. Feelings are moew or less in line with this.
  10. Under rated MTB and gravel destination potential imho, there are so many good trails and general routes around. Have had some amazing rides there with setting routes for training camps. Clarens Xtreme, chat to Oli the owner. He knows every nook and cranny in the surrounding mountains. Ex cop in the horse unit and an absolute character. Also chat to the folk at the brewery in Clarens, they are avid riders and as well as having assisted us with training camp routes they are also event organisers for a stage race in the area.
  11. Forward thinking idea, keen to see where the concept goes. All the best.
  12. I'm in the school of dry lube for dry conditions and wet lube for wet conditions. My riding is predominately gravel/MTB and road (groad bro) Used a fair amount of different brands over the years, including Smoove and Squirt. My goto is Smoove which also works well in mixed conditions. More or less on par with Squirt throughout riding conditions but does run 'cleaner' for longer. Also using Momum which claims to have ceramic micro particles, runs clean and works well in mixed conditions but doesn't last as long. In my experience. For really rain soaked rides I'll grab whichever wet lube is on the shelf. Currently MucOff wet (hate the dry) and an assortment of oils. LiquiMoly, Motul etc... Some good info on friction tests and lube usage. Interestingly both Squirt and Smoove show up well here; https://cyclingtips.com/2018/03/fast-chain-lube-that-saves-you-money/ https://zerofrictioncycling.com.au/lubetesting/ One thing I've been reading up on more and trying to steer clear of are PFAS or known as "forever chemicals" ... Not cool stuff https://www.ewg.org/pfaschemicals/what-are-forever-chemicals.html https://chemtrust.org/pfas/
  13. Would be spot on for my gravel steed or update on the SS.... will see what I can find to trade, last beer is ale down
  14. The inference is pretty dickish pal.
  15. Given the pressure from civic society that forced government's hand with the current vaccine programme, I can only see the same thing happening with an increased involvement from the private sector. We've already seen rumblings from Discovery and the WC Premier. Once the actions from civic groups and media attention gain momentum, they've little choice.
  16. This whole thread could've been a WhatsApp.
  17. Full build and in good working condition? Give it a bit of a refurb and polish, you will likely fetch closer to around 3k. There's a vintage/retro bike page on FB that will help with a guideline.
  18. Chat to Meerendal, they may be keen.
  19. Cycle Lab brand, relatively basic and solid. Nothing wrong at the price, not sure if there's any warranty outside of the 30 day money back promise though.
  20. Spoken to Castelli locally? Sure they might be able point you in the right direction. https://www.castelli.co.za Anatomic are on Beyers Naude, even though the factory itself is in Parys, I remember there being an seamstress on site at the factory shop. Panda Sports are in Alberton. J@J Cycling are the Assos suppliers and offer a repair service, additionally there are a number of local manufacturers who might able to help. Civiota, Enjoy etc .... Perhaps worth a shot.
  21. Had an AA and then an Explosif. Loved those bikes. Post PnP specials and a Bridgestone these were my first 'real' bikes growing up.
  22. Oh the joy .... ;P
  23. Dude. Why even the question! ... KEEP! A beaut, are those Curve cantilevers the original brakeset? Recall Kona coming with Ritchey Logic and Avid. Have those same Curves on my CX/gravel bike. Ballache to setup, but once done they run beautifully.
  24. Sorry to hear Brendan, glad to see the lil trooper seem to be dealing with it well. Kids can be remarkably resilient. Goes without saying that this is beyond acceptable. Not too dissimilar to the pos in Belgium that punted a kid. If you can, please recall extra details in the guy's description. Helmet type/colour, build, facial features like beard for example. Clothing colour? Loose or lycra? Were the glasses a blue frame or lens? Any more details on the bike that may be distinctive. Also the time as near as possible. Then we can check on Strava if need be. I stay in the area and am happy to track it down. Have also forwarded your description to a few people. Small chance that this chap is reading the thread. Take this as an opportunity to come forward now and resolve the issue privately.
