  1. Same thing happened with me when my son turned 18 - I took out a cheap Life insurance for him - At the time it was 200 ronds a month for 1.0 mill life cover, then he joined vitality and did all the gym stuff etc Also came in handy when he bought his first apartment - he seeded the Life product for his bond to the bank instead of taking a separate policy.
  2. this is the normal input power requirements when running with the supplied power lead - It has a stepdown box, the output on this box is where you need to look it's 12v 5 amp So any 12v DC UPS will work - just select the highest Amp output on the ups - normally 3 amp I use the amps to determine time - the Kickr will use 5 amps per hour so if you want to run for 2 hours you will need a 10 Ah ups min. I got an ultralan 17.8 Ah off Takealot have used it for a 1hr45 session and it was on 50% when i finished
  3. Thats wrong if you look on the power box Input is 100-240 V 1.7amps - AC output is 12v 5 amp DC The Gizzu 8800 mAh = 8.8 amp hr's should last 1hr45min if you run it on the 12v 3 amp output
  4. These do work well, However - They are 7AH Lead Acid batteries - The Kickr pulls 5 amps so you will get just over 1 hour (7/5 =1.4 hrs) before the UPS shuts down. they get a bad rap because people draw them down completely and the battery deteriorates very quickly, common with lead acid. they are not designed for this and only really meant as an emergency back up in the event of power failure to give you time to save and shutdown PC's etc. I was about to bin mine and decided to open it up - I changed the battery to a 12v 7aH LI battery (not sure if it can handle this battery but did it anyway) it now lasts a lot longer - haven't tried it on the Kickr again but run 2 laptops and an external screen which lasts about 1:15 hr and the battery is still running strong after 3 months. Oh & BTW - i disconnect this thing from the mains when i'm not using it - It gets fairly hot and LI catching on fire is not uncommon - so be careful if you make this modification
  5. That looks like wear from the upper bushing - If the stanchions were replaced last Sept then clearly they didn't replace the bushings - which is insane ! - new stanchions = new bushings as well
  6. If you have oil leaking out of a dropper post, then the cartridge needs servicing or replacing - end of discussion. I would only deal with people who have experience with suspension and dropper posts - there are a few on the hub or call RBC (Robbies Bicycle concept) in PE From what i see on the net the merida cartridge is not a serviceable item and would probably need replacing Here is a video to give you some insight to what you are dealing with
  7. I highly doubt 7 years ago that entry portals were, or still are, checking ID no's - At most they probably compare your first 6 digits with the DOB you enter on the same application How Dare you ! accuse me of speaking with forked tongue
  8. How dare you slander my favorite LBS ! 😲
  9. I know of some cases of youngsters missing the age limit by a few months and managed an official entry by changing the month numbers in their ID's and then staying in the middle of the pack as not to attract attention - without mentioning names, one of them had to be held back by his ride partner as he was heading into a top 10 finish - today he is a Pro rider But when you nearly 19 and look 19 is different when you 15 and look 15. Chances of officials spotting you somewhere in the field are good. According to one race organiser - If they break the age rule by even 1 month and its found out or something happens to the rider during the race, its huge problems for the organiser with CSA and their liability insurance
  10. Doing the Berg n Bush '@ 15 😲 - thought there was an age restriction on stage races Best of luck though - ride it like you stole it 🤙
  11. No i'm sure he immigrated to Scotland
  12. Campag only spoken here keep it clean people
  13. Erm - Hold on If it's still under warranty and the buyer wants it replaced, considering the 2nd owner warranty BS - then i would agree If it's out of warranty and the buyer takes it to Garmin to be repaired and they choose to either repair it at a fee or offer you a new one at a discounted price - I see no problem with that.
  14. Egzakery ! You stop and Nandos - run inside t get the order - come back outside only to see some Nyaopi junkie riding down the road on your bike
  15. Sacrilege I tell you No Rim brake option No Thumb levers What were they thinking !! Maybe i'm just getting old 🤓 I'll stay mechanical Clearly they missed the boat on this one with Shitmano & SRAM snapping up the patents and then having to design workarounds. for the first time even i have to admit, Campy have fallen behind the curve on their groupsets
  16. Decathlon has lots to choose from and really well priced - I got this one for a very muddy TB last year, looks bont but really works well - Clips on and off your seatpost in 2 seconds
  17. Haha i remember "BoringMan" having this discussion on Toyota Cadence many years ago - Oh how the Boringman is missed by many
  18. From someone who spent years on a cheap mag trainer then on an electro mag trainer then onto a smart trainer - Well the mag trainers were actually expensive in their day but nowdays they are cheapies. Road Bike 2X8 or 2X9 - Getting the resistance right on a mag trainer is hit and miss at least with some gears you can get it dialed in. When I moved from heart rate based training to power based training on TR i used virtual power (Not sure if you can do this on ZWIFT) all I did was add the speed cadence sensor and with the gears you can get just as good experience as you would on a smart trainer. I use an old TREK 970 steel frame with 2 X 9 (Campy of course) on all my trainers and still going strong - well at least the bike is - me on the other hand, well that and entirely different topic.
  19. Off topic But - I feel your pain - I belonged to a Sales Managers breakfast club a number of years back. there were 3 Sales Managers from 3 different well known vehicle brands, there biggest problem was sales staff retention, they couldn't believe us guys in the capital equipment game had sales staff with 15 - 20 years service, if you had 15 - 20 months service in their game you got a long service award. We told them our secret - "We don't fire people for lack of sales, we manage and mentor them until they achieve their targets" Pffft they responded, we don't manage people we manage sales, that's why we are called sales managers. Car sales industry is a rats nest of broken salesmen because they keep getting fired for not moving numbers. I gave one a job, he'd been fired 6 times in 3 years, couldn't understand why he was still in the job after 3 months of not hitting his target - today 9 years later he is still in the industry as one of the top performers and often gets hunted by competitor brands.
  20. this is the safest way to go - it's expensive but at least your car is covered, I did the same with my Audi, didn't get it as a freebie but at a seriously reduced price and they had the Thule removable towbar fitted, if i remember correctly i paid 6.5K including fitting
  21. mmmm I dont know so much - I mean, virtually every cell phone make can be repaired including apple and Samsung with both genuine and generic parts of your choice
  22. It was a long time back but I seem to remember about 3.5K - a new computer was 40K at the time. and it affects the warranty on the entire vehicle - 4 months later the turbo blew up and that was an 80K repair bill covered by the warranty so it was well worth the investment
  23. I still wonder why these brands don't support aftermarket repair industry with genuine parts like batteries, screens and buttons etc. At least it opens some more options for owners with out of warranty products like the cell phone repair industry - I have the same issue with IDT, lots of dead kickr laying around and all they need is a small electronic component that is not available to the general public.
