  1. As others have said, as your focus and goal is triathlons and working up to a full Ironman, the best chance for a sub 12:30 with the right training is on a tri bike. Welcome, enjoy the journey and all the best!
  2. Lots of comedian here I see......Ever considered it's a typo and should be R3,650 in price?
  3. Try runkeeper https://www.asics.com/za/en-za/mk/runkeeper for logging runs and keeping track of shoe mileage Also try Final Surge www.finalsurge.com
  4. Thanks, just checked and see so You can also use Asics Runkeeper to keep a log. https://runkeeper.com/ Edit: it also sync direct with garmin
  5. I also run with Stryd and only get close to 400w when doing fast hill repeats!! I agree that running that average is incredible!!
  6. Go to the Sweatshop in Clairemont, they will get you to run back and forth and be able to tell you your running gait and whether you overpronate. They will then be able to give you good advice on which shoes best suit.
  7. If you segment hunt, then you can create them in Garmin segments and route planner just use komoot. Agreed they just seem to be shooting themselves in the foot, by trying to force you to pay without adding any value to make it worth while.
  8. DC says that they could go either way, either force people to subscribe and survive or not be around in a year or 2. From reading the web, many not interested in paying and looking at alternatives. Those who do hunt segments are talking of using Garmin segments and the recently introduced route planner integration with devices will use Komoot rather than strava planner.
  9. Was more about the 44,000 apps and other links that use Strava API. Segments and leaderboards i have no interest in. In fact my strava account has been on private for 2 years or so and is hardly looked at. Generally strava still just there for ease of sync of data elsewhere, i.e intervals.icu, xert etc, and to log running shoe mileage.
  10. Some new carbon plate race shoes fom Saucony https://www.tri247.com/triathlon-gear/run-gear/saucony-fastest-ever-shoe
  11. David, your 3rd party app/programme going to be affected by Strava's changes to their API? https://www.dcrainmaker.com/2020/05/strava-cuts-off-leaderboard-for-free-users-reduces-3rd-party-apps-for-all-and-more.html
  12. Maybe but not in my books, is just someone boasting .....as I said it only counts on race day!
  13. Why is everyone getting worked up about RD blowing his own trumpet??.... will only matter come race day whenever that may be. Many will post sub 3, 94.7 or Argus, sub 3:30 or sub 3 marathon etc or even a pb when out on a training run. Not really seeing what all the fuss is about... apart from he is training hard... and others are not..... Race day is only when it counts!
  14. Yes they do, if you want to race fast then run in race specific shoes and train in shoes that give you more comfort and cushioning for your longer slower training distances.
  15. Look at the Pegasus 36 (think the 37 might be out soon) and also the Turbo 2 to replace the flyknit. Keep the 4% for races rather than training shoes
  16. My Ant+ is plugged into my laptop in front of the handlebars on a music stand. I have had it like that for the last 4-5 years without signal issues. Have never needed to get an extension cable. First trainer was a Cycleops Powersync, then Cycleops Magnus, now a Kickr Core. All 3 worked no issues, running Cycleops Trainer (now Rouvy), RGT, Perfpro Studio, Trainerroad and now Golden Cheetah. Never been a fan of Zwift as prefer to spend my time on structured workouts and plans.... and never had an issue with Ant+
  17. So Ironman 70.3 World Champs in NZ has been cancelled and Kona now moved to February 2021. Don't think there will be any racing this year! Good time to really build base, increase FTP and running pace!!
  18. Saw that and have to agree, don't think there will be any racing this year.
  19. New UI graphics looks interesting. Also see there is BLE integration for Win10. Early build with a few bugs from reading in the GC google group forum. Further updates/fixes on the way, so might be worth waiting. Win10 and training mode I have been using for a long time, the odd power spike, else it has been quite stable and does what it meant to do.
  20. New Build 3.6 Development https://github.com/GoldenCheetah/GoldenCheetah/releases/tag/v3.6-DEV2005
  21. Ya, mixed feelings! Be interesting to see in which direction they now go. Should not be short of money.
  22. Managed a comfortable 21km this morning, was doing it as part of the IM Virtual Race challenges. Legs felt surprisingly good. Happy to be out on the road again!
  23. Still holding thumbs as likely to the the only event will do this year after Dubai which was right at the start of the year. Held off on booking flights and accommodation even though have entered. IM have to give notice of the event happening or not at least 45 days or earlier before the event to comply with the transfer-withdrawal policy they have https://www.ironman.com/transfer-withdrawal
  24. Still hoping to do Weymouth in Sept, else might consider Bahrain again in Dec. If neither of those then will also be at Dubai again!
  25. Deferal options just posted to either EL or Durban 2021. Will be Durbs for me!
