  1. Good for you and of course the high horse you put yourself on. Whenever someone starts giving it am this and I do this .... i really have to question why, but each to their own......... I have also been on this rodeo with events and tshirts and by no means a spring chicken, but I don't need to tell the world about it to justify a point of view and definitely don't need to get the tattoo Sorry you feel the need to make this out as a point scoring exercise. For me, my point was that in the last 10-15 years or so IM have really gone out of their way to market themselves and their merchandise and IF, and only an IF, cycling and pro teams wanted to do the same.... which clearly they do not, then looking at Ironman or for that matter Nike, Adidas or any in vogue clothing and the way they went about it might be a consideration. It was nothing more than a point of reference. But anyway, in a nutshell we are discussing a mute point as pro teams are not interested in increasing their revenue by the clothing route. And I agree with you, it would be a whole cost exercise and team build just for the clothing and merchandise and am sure many teams have gone through it and decided not worth the capital outlay. Which perhaps is an oversight. When the likes of Beckham when to Real Madrid and LA Galaxy, the majority of his transfer fee was paid for in pre-sale shirts!! But then we are back comparing football to cycling which is like apples and oranges! And no business can make anything, slap it all over social media and expect sit back and reap the rewards! Those that do, fail as we all know any business take hard work to make a success. So lets not be patronizing!! Enjoy your weekend
  2. lol, if you wish to live in the past do so!! All I am saying is Ironman have marketed themselves and their clothing pretty well, you name it, it probably had an IM logo on it and people buy it whether subtlety or not cool to wear.....cycling and pro team could probably learn something from the marketing hype if they are considering merchandising clothing and making it cool to wear

  4. Yet Ironman don't have a problem getting people wearing their kit. I think cycling just need to adapt accordingly. EF are starting to, Rapha as well, to name 2
  5. You had better read what DCR says about it, before you go rushing out to buy it https://www.dcrainmaker.com/2020/11/wahoo-rival-multisport-gps-watch-review.html His recommendation is to watch and see and look forward to whatever version is available in about a year from now!!........ However, that doesn’t mean I’d recommend the RIVAL today, not in its current iteration. I think with enough money and developers, we’re probably about 8-12 months away from being able to compete with the likes of Suunto in certain areas (non-battery ones). Another year after that, maybe Polar (assuming Polar stopped developing entirely). Garmin? Well, that’s…who knows.
  6. From what I have heard it lacks a lot of the functionality that we have been accustomed too. DCR says there may be a whole bunch of updates coming soon, but recons it might be best to wait a year until they are fully established in the market. If I had to consider something else at the moment, it would be the Coros Pace 2
  7. Wahoo just dropped into the watch market !! Wahoo Elemnt Rival https://www.techradar.com/reviews/wahoo-elemnt-rival https://www.dcrainmaker.com/2020/11/wahoo-rival-multisport-gps-watch-review.html
  8. Didn't take long https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/triathlon-and-time-trial-bikes/439595/canyon-speedmax-cfslx-8
  9. Neat storage ideas they have added for both on board nutrition as well as spares near the BB. Just looked at the prices on the Canyon website, ......my current speedmax is going to have to last a few more years!!
  10. They will get you to run through a few tests and spin-downs first to check. If nothing resets it back to working. A courier delivered a new unit and they then arranged to collect the old one
  11. Happened to me middle of lockdown, is an ESD fault and a known issue https://www.dcrainmaker.com/2019/01/wahoo-ceo-details-fixes-for-issues-surrounding-kickr-2018-kickr-core.html Wahoo replaced mine under warranty even though was 6 months out of warranty
  12. Cool to see others doing too. Also here, slightly cheaper, but limited options https://3ddesignstender.com/ and another https://www.speedmetrics.com.br/us/aero-box/ And this one for after market behind seatpost https://custombikexcessories.com/ like what you get on the Quintana PRSix and Trek's On my tri-bike, I went with the Lyne Holy Rail https://www.on-lynecomponents.com/collections/the-holy-rail/products/holy-rail-triangle-box-kit not quite as aero, but does the job just as well

  20. Nice looking bike! Perhaps the flood gates will now open and more bike manufacturers will go weight weenie on frames. Will be interesting to see this development!
  21. Please correct me then... as I always thought you paid for Vitality running and Vitality cycling separately depending on which one you wanted to join/or both. That was a once off fee... hence the question Maybe it more foggy covid than smoking
  22. Was Vitality membership monthly before? I always thought it was a once off payment? https://www.discovery.co.za/vitality/rates-2021?utm_source=hybris&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=vitality_newsletter_october_2020&utm_content=vitality_rates The Vitality monthly membership contributions for next year are as follows: Vitality Member R290 Member + 1 R355 Member + 2 R410
  23. Before the lights, most races had 2 or 3 pacers who dropped out, so it no real difference. Just that the human pacers are out of a job What it does add is for the spectators, either in the stands or on TV who can see the lights and see whether they are on for a new record. So it adds to the interactive viewing. Same way as they have introduced a pool line in swimming where you can see how the lead swimmers are doing against WR pace. Unless the runner is going for an all out WR attempt, race tactics between athletes will still play a big part and probably be the deciding factor in the majority of races and not sticking to following lights.
