  5. The only difference on the trainer between bikes will be the gearing, if you are free riding or racing on the likes of Zwift/Rouvy. If you are going ERG workouts then it does not matter which bike you leave on there. If you want a dedicated bike, I personally prefer a cheap road bike as the gearing will be closer to what you will use when racing triathlons as well as position on the bike (as EddieV says) and components are generally cheaper than MTB

  7. Also received same Have emailed them about defer and transfer as limited flights from here and SA on UK banned list, so would have to quarantine before the race and also upon my return. Just not feasible!
  8. I know you are on a dumb trainer with power meter, but do you know if the Lezyne when the workout is loaded, does it control a smart trainer as a garmin does?
  9. With Garmin being down, I looked on the Vitality page on how to possibly manually upload my workouts to get the points until the garmin issue is sorted. As a new week starts tomorrow. I see under Gym, devices and fitness my garmin account to discovery has been delinked by Discovery. As cannot see a way for manual upload of a FIT file, I presume we will have to email them our workouts to get the points?

  15. Do a search in here https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/146482-goodbye-dstv/?hl=goodbye most of the sites and apps will have been discussed. As for using Apple, will not allow illegal 3rd paty apps to stream, so you may have to consider other options
  16. Agree, some of my workouts have 20s flat out sprints, but would do all on the road. Just think that if you are confined to a treadmill longer sprints with recoveries will be more beneficial and "easier" to do. I would always advocate that sprint work be done on the road or a track if at all possible. Treadmill has it's place and can be great for those 4-5 minute intervals where you can set and know it is a constant pace, without having to try to judge this on the road and have hills and/or downhills, or road crossings which may have an influence.
  17. Sounds like you have converted a cycling micro intervals workout for running? Would be better to do such speed work intervals out on the road rather than on a treadmill. Else change and adapt the workout to perhaps 60s Zone 4 and 60s recovery, which will give you time to adjust the treadmill speed and actually have the extended time in Zone 4, which will be more beneficial.
  18. Challenge Capetown just been cancelled, full refund or defer to next year!

  25. As there is no swimming at the moment, so I am currently cycling and running lots. Cycle and run HIIT workouts on a Tues and Thurs, Wed is a recovery run and spin, very slow and very easy for both. Saturday LSD ride and Sunday LSD run. Until you have a certain level of fitness in your running, you will see it effect your cycling, due to being generally fatigued, once the fitness is there you should be able to improve you cycling. As other's have said, you need some structure with running and not just running all at the same pace. Start slow, build in intervals and hill repeats to build muscle power. Some days running really slow because you are tired is not a bad thing. Not every run has to be chasing PB's. Eventually running and cycling should compliment one another.
