  1. Just a suggestion, your idea, you run with it. Collect the cash into your account, take email add. of donors. Get in touch with Joneen at Linden Cycles, one of the nicest people in the bike game and she will find the guy a bike, he can collect from the shop after you have transferred the cash. Joneen (sp) can email us with a pic of the guy on his bike. I'm sure she can assist with a 2nd hand suitable.

  2. The apple pencil was high on my list of must haves when the iPad was still alive ... I just did not want to spend 2K on a pencil that I would use on site doing work for the office who did not contribute to my device to do work better on site.

New Gen 2 is 3K, pick one up on gumtree for 1/2 that. Most peeps buy it and never use it, good offers out there. Generally go for about 100 dollars on Amazon US so Apple ZA are ripping us.

  3. Another bloody chopping board

Edge grain, made from American Hard Maple rough sawn lumber. Finished with food grade mineral oil.

15 degree bevel added to each side for the hell of it (I thought it looked cool  )

Nothing fancy, and pretty simple to make. I find the milling process somewhat therapeutic, so don't mind spending a couple of Saturday mornings making noise and sawdust.

One of the most rewarding projects because it will be used almost everyday. I like the edges, makes it easy to pick up off the counter top.

  4. how do you even know how true the info on the letter is.

    B. shutte could be a victim here and his details falsified and put on a letter..

you feel so entitled to now go and expose mr B, that you have just exposed yourself as MR ENTITLEMENT himself.

Mr B put his contact details, maybe, for one person to see, not 1000's...

Great 2nd post. New to forums?

  5. Had my racks stolen off the car end of last year. Not sure how to secure the racks, even more ( racks on roof rails)

Try the Thule range that can be locked and keep the allen keys inside the car as opposed to in the foot section.

  6. You need less than you think. Most important, get bike in perfect order. The more attention you pay here, the less problems you have. Power banks are nice. I packed a car battery and inverter in my son's box one year, he is a strong lad, so we were sorted there. Day 2 take it easy down into the valley, you can get carried away it is such great riding. Take an extra empty bottle to fill, from table 1 to 2 on the 2nd day can be very hot. I will be in the Adventure with my wife this year. I always get sick after Sani, so I get some Cantraxil from the doc to start taking during the race. I think its from dirty bottle lids.

  7. Easy enough to do if you know what to do.

There are a number of threads where guys have painted their own frames. Have a search on this forum, some really nice paint jobs done. The type of paint and clear coat you use is important, you can get 2K in aerosol tins, this is the easiest. I painted my frame with matt black and a satin clear coat. Previously I used a panelbeater. As with any painting, prep is key.

  8. Holly crap. Never a nice thing to go through.

I know we bemoan SAPS, but did they not send anyone out? There's a joke. I had to go and fetch them from the police station, not in my vehicle. When I told them it was a robbery they looked disinterested. Once I mentioned a gun was missing there was some action. Later that evening the ipad popped up on findmyipad and I had to beg them to follow me to Wynberg to the location, a pawn shop which was closed, they never returned the following morning. Safety and security in this country is an illusion. They chopped my safe out of the wall with picks!

We had a similar incident two years ago. Armed robbery. Domestic and gardener tied up.

After cops arrived, next to arrive was the trauma counsellor, before forensics and co.

Alternatively, your insurers should also be able to arrange as it should be covered under your policy

  9. I'm assuming this happened in your absence? Even if you weren't physically there while it happened don't shrug off the need for therapy yourself. You could end up torturing yourself over this for quite some time. And there's a strong possibility it could affect your health as well. Remember you can't be there for them if you don't take care of yourself too. All the best my bru.

My wife and housekeeper were there, tied up but not injured.

  10. Random question for you guys, I need to sand the ends of some blocks, have been using a disk sander up until now (one of those Ryobi combo's), but need to put something a little more robust in place, which is better to use, belt sander or disk sander?

A belt sander can very quickly destroy the square.

Edit: I should have included, use the disc and the fence/miter gauge.
