  1. I think you`d be better off by using a quality water based paint stripper applied with a brush. I`d be concerned about sandblasting as this always leaves a slightly pitted surface.
  2. Go to a motorbike repair shop and buy a small mushroom plug which you install from the inside of the tyre. that is the only real fix for that size puncture. You can try and glue a patch to the interior of the tyre but if the cut is too big this may not last.
  3. I really want to see a better drivetrain solution. perhaps an integrated crank/ transmission system feeding a belt driven rear wheel something like a Rohloff but situated at the bottom bracket instead of the rear wheel. Electronic shifting is also inevitable as is motor assisted drive.
  4. You`re right they do tend to attract dust, but I think most of this dirt is superficial as the oil should seal dirt out of the rollers which is where it really matters. I only use this on my mountainbike which gets washed after every dirty ride and probably after every 4th ride anyway. On my roadbike i use a wax based dry lube ( RocknRoll ) which i only apply after every 200km`s. I also wipe off all the excess lube to keep it as clean as possible.
  5. Oil is best, I have been experimenting with various oils and currently use plain old gear oil 80w90 which is nice and sticky. leave it in the sun or keep it warm or else it is a bit thick to apply. apply to your chain the night before ,spin your drivetrain a few times , leave to stand overnight and then wipe the excess off before your ride. Much cheaper than all the snakeoil that`s being sold for more than premium whisky and probably better. Especially in the wet. Wax is easy to clean( this may also indicate that it doesn`t hold up to well i.m.o.) . White lightning endurance seems good but needs frequent application.
  6. 100%, There are few things that SA can be proud of lately, excellence deserves it`s rewards!......Look at the flipside, pathetic SA sport admin, Cricket....Rugby being slowly destroyed by politics , the Soccer spaza shop (despite all the money being spent on it and the talent available!) ...Public healthcare, public service, the Police with it`s bloated ranks of illiterate corrupt and inept Colonels and Generals, an Army that riots, an Airforce that can`t fly planes,a sinking Navy..... `edukasiun`...etc. all of which makes mediocrity the norm in our happy welfare state.
  7. That is so sad. Sad for us cyclists and sad for the park....I reckon they must make at least 20% of their gate takings from cyclists. Also not meaning to defend cyclists...I personally have seen very little of this type of littering...Goo is a common energy supplement and is also used by hikers and runners so I`d be very reluctant to identify this as a purely `cyclist `issue. It would also help if any cyclist who spots litter along the road stopped to pick it up, specifically Goo packets and the like as this is obviously in our best interest. Very often the wrappers fall out of pockets without the person noticing, i doubt there is much intentional littering.
  8. Hey! I object to that...I am a liberal and think Mugabe is a P*es!.....Don`t pull a Mugabe here and think that only your opinion is correct!
  9. Cows Milk and blood for the Kenyans and they will be untouchable!
  10. I think the DW link / Maestro design is the best all round suspension design. As per the attached diagram(Maestro) Regarding the GT i reckon the pivot above the bottom bracket just makes for awkward pedal feel as the bottom bracket moves rearward when the suspension compresses. Surely it must be important for for the relationship between saddle /bars and crank to remain constant at all times.? This system does not make sense to me.
  11. And a lot of Malawian/Zimbawean gardeners are breaking the law on their way to work as we read this! Completely useless legislation is SA speciality.
  12. you`d be better off licking this! There is no pill for cramping.....train harder!
  13. I agree , but If the budget allows a Park tools bicycle service stand. It`s unlikely that you would spend the money yourself but it will be money well spent .
  14. In that case I`m a Prado...... I must agree that lately i have been riding with water only for races/rides under 2 hours and I don`t feel much difference i.t.o. performance. I do however take a recovery drink straight after.
  15. ahhhh....the good old days!
  16. Great tip. I wonder why the bicycle industry has not brought out a specific product along these lines given the latest tubeless technology. Something with maybe 2 - 3 sizes or a trimmable patch!
  17. So much for lighting hitting the highest spot
  18. + 1
  19. Not sure who gets these lovely contracts..... R 15 mil to renovate a house?, R 35mil to renovate a small church?.....I have been an architect for close to 20 years and I am getting a serious whiff of inflated tenders here!
  20. Check your spoke tension. The wheels can still run true without a load on them but as soon as you ride the bike and shift your weight side to side you will have deflection if your spokes are loose.
  21. Holy crap but you do have long legs. Did you take measurements of your inner leg or to the hip? This is the most comprehensive bike fit calculator I have seen. They also give instructions on how to take your measurements. http://www.competitivecyclist.com/za/CCY?PAGE=FIT_CALCULATOR_INTRO
  22. Looks like these cracks are following the welded seam in the tube. i would not ride this bike as the strength of these tubes is now severly compromised. Try to get a loan bike from Litespeed in the meantime while they deal with your claim/repair? What year /model is your bike , just to warn other owners. This sort of problem is a manufacturing issue and there may be others waiting to fail. If none of this works , You could always send it in to have the stays wrapped in carbon fibre.
