  1. Why do people always say " my friend" , when they actually mean " you do*s " ?
  2. + 1 .........Good product and easy to install.
  3. some tires are worse than others in this regard so this could also be the problem but my first guess would be headset bearings. Bike Geometry/steering rake and trail is also a critical factor as was mentioned elsewhere.
  4. That is very sexy!
  5. What is a garden boy ?
  6. https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/5446-scott-cx-comp-cyclocross-bike/ Looks like a great deal and I`m sure it`ll be perfect for training on? There are a couple of good deals on the Hub....Specialized Roubaix, Felt F4.......start negotiating.
  7. I think your heading says it all..... CRAP......There`s nothing for nothing dude! Move on and please don`t forward this to ten of your mates!
  8. Me too...............!
  9. You can also use the GOREĀ® RIDE ONĀ® Cable sets as these dont require any frame mods. A bit pricey but worth it over time.
  10. This is a lovely website http://www.photographyserved.com/
  11. It could be worse ...........Imagine living in .Boksburg!
  12. Not intending to insult you or even condone Bobs actions on this but if everybody had that attitude we will never progress as a country. I think he took a calculated risk by chasing down the idiots and I doubt they were carrying a gun in their cycling kit. At worst he may have suffered a klap against the head( This was in Randfontein after all !) They were obviously indignant at being crapped on but maybe he did plant a seed in the empty field !
  13. Sorry, typing error, my wheels are actually Crossmax ST, not Crosstrail as stated. Can`t really comment on the Crosstrails.
  14. I am very surprised about the 85kg weight limit on the Mavics. I have a set of Crosstrail ST`s (tubeless ) on my bike which have completed approx 8,500 km of hard riding and stage racing and they still run perfectly true. I weigh 95kg in my bday suit. My only gripe with mavic is the freehub design which tends to develop a lot of play over time. They are very easy to service and replace though. The engagement is also a bit slow for my liking. This is ok for XC but I would go for a faster engagement hub if you do a lot of trails and technical riding. I still rate them as my best wheels ever.
  15. So did I , best combo yet. 2.4 MK in front 2.2 RK on back.
  16. +1, Great stand and robust too compared to some of the aluminium ones.

  18. I have always relied on an instinctively *** attitude towards aggression and quick hands ( or feet - for a fast getaway! ) , but ever since I have been a family man my perspective has changed somewhat. If they have a gun/knife/mob they can take what they want. Insurance will hopefully cover the loss.......however it is hard to predict how one will react in the face of an attack......! I always carry a decent sized can of pepper spray with me clipped into my shirt or camelback strap and know that a well swung bike can do a lot of damage! First line of defence however is avoiding dodgy areas and try to always ride in a group when possible.
  19. There is an Anthem 0 for sale on the hub for approx your price. Rather negotiate with the owner than buy a bottom of the range bike. Look on the hub for a good 2nd hand deal.
  20. You need a Medium / 18 I ride a Medium Trance XO I am exactly as tall as you and pretty big/athletic/fat at 93kg
  21. I am considering upgrading my cables with the GORE Ride-on sealed cables. Does anyone on the hub have experience with these cables? Is it worth it at approx.R 750,00 (kit only)? I currently run full cables which are fine but would prefer to fit the cables without cable-ties or drilling etc. It seems the Gore cables run a thin continuous inner sleeve which should allow the standard cable stops/retainers to be used ,this should be much neater.
  22. I`m sure he meant ` never pull the brake lever when the wheel has been removed`
  23. Especially the Shimano SPD bearings......mmmmm, why are there only 11 ballbearings in this pedal? I could have sworn there were 12 in the other one........!
  24. You have to force yourself to train hills. Go and ride at Suikerbosrand at least once a week. When you manage to do 2 full laps in under 4,5 hours you will be strong in the hills. Seriously. The only ways to get stronger/faster is to practise hills , Interval training and/or weight loss. You could also cheat a bit with a compact or triple crankset ,on road.
  25. You are right but we are only talking a 3% difference so I doubt whether you`ll notice. This gear calculator is handy. http://www.sheldonbrown.com/gears/
