  1. because we don't have the volume of sulbutamol in our system?
  2. The extra stiffness is gained more by the fact it had a tripple tree fork design like half of what a motorcycle has and not a neck which aslo makes it feel stiffer.
  3. No, the Cannondale Motorcycle was a P.O.S, there is a reason it never lasted. Cannondale's entire marketting ploy is directly opposite to what most modern dirtbike suspension is doing by releasing separate function forks.
  4. yup relevant on this thread too I guess https://threadreader...1427787777.html
  5. Or you could train a bit harder and do the Patagonia Expedition race in November- Callded the last Wild race for a reason, and it is just a little bit longer at 600-800km
  6. ^^^This or jump in a kayak and paddle, will keep your cardio in shape and keep you sane...
  7. On the whole sefl defence issue which is part and parcel and relevent to this thread, here is another link to a thread that is worth reading https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/964157761427787777.html
  8. o okay, just asking because there are a few articles on certain types of antibiotics causing tendon injuries usually the achilles
  9. Have you gone to the police and laid charges yet, you have a name and bank account details.
  10. Hard luck, rest up and do everything you can to help it heal and you will be back soon enough. As a matter of interest have you run while taking antibiotics recently?
  11. have you tried sportsmans warehouse?
  12. Spot tracker is an option, someone can track you, you also have a help which you can push to alert your next of kin, otherwise there is an SOS button which internationally calls for help and they will send anything up to a helicopter. If you just want the mrs to know where you are whatsapp share live location with the mrs and she can see if you are moving and where you are.
  13. I think as with any surgury- if it can be avoided, rather avoid it, but really for me it was very very successful. My ITB was also really really bad, pain walking accross a car park or down the driveway to the post box
  14. Note for future use, I have a cheap manual impact driver works well for excessive loctite use, the shock fom the hammer often breaks the loctite's seal/grip enough for you to get it turning. I have had good success with this especially with bolts and screws in aluminium parts
  15. It's not too late on the ITB front. It was 6 weeks to the day from ITB surgury to a totally pain free 500km Expedition Africa Swaziland back in 2015 for me. Go see a doc, see what they say, you may even get away with lesser treatment.
  16. And discovery vitality put adventure racing on the naughty list now, no more points for completing an adventure race
  17. If you look at all the photos closely you can see how much of a pack horse he is, reckon he had all the team compulsory kit and their chick's kit on his back the whole way
  18. The other reason is that unlike the rest of these overweight muscled up rugby players McCaw can actually run, you want to steal more at rucks, get to more rucks than anyone else. Whilst our retired rugby captain took over 7 hours to complete the 42km run at ironman. Ritchie McCaw just finnished his second adventure race- Godzone, not the easiest race ever 550km over 7000m elevation gain, and they finnished in 6th place. Noteable thought is that the SA team who has Stephan Terreblanche in it is still on course, so even as a big guy he really can cover distance. He also got 12th at the mountain run at coast to coast last year. My 2c is yes he stretched the law a lot, but he also played a hell of a lot more rugby than the rest of the forewards and if you have a 30% success rate stealing a ball at rucks and you get to twice as many rucks as the rest, you still going to come out on top.
  19. Anyone else struggling to manually upload race results today? Keep getting the following error: Failure of Web Server bridge: Error reading POST data from client
  20. Doing the first part of the Lady Grey Park run as the first stage of Wartrail Challenge next weekend. Then in April is is X-Berg, still not sure what route I will us or what ration cycling to running I will do for X-berg but at this stage there is atleast 1X 50km run leg and definitely another 30km run, just the bits inbetween to think about now
  21. sponsorship it a 2 way street, what have you got to offer potential sponsors other than 2.5W/kg? How many people can you prove will see their products?
  22. is that even worth getting on an indoor trainer or getting the bike dirty for?
  23. Do you not think that if you were being sensible and having the odd rest day when needed your immune system may have been a bit stronger and you may not have been sick, twice? I still don't get this- half the 'activities' mentioned here are so pointless that it should not count as training, and anyway, why would you want to? At some stage you are going to do a proper race and need a rest day after, if not what is the point in doing all this training. The rest of us formulate calculated plans balancing rest and training in order to allow us to continue training and training properly because 20mins walking is what you do on site at work, it is not a 'training activity' Moderation is a word not taught enough at schools, you see extreme diets where success is good, but short lived because it is not sustainable, yet a milder diet or just smarter food and portion choices will work for the longer run because it is sustainable, 365 for 365 is hardly sustainable, the fact okes are resorting to 'walks' or are sick so much shows this...
  24. To put things in perspective, the top 100 miler guys are running more and with more elevation- Jim Walsmley has run over 34676m elevation gain over 865km in 2018, compared to the 840km with 11000m and Jim has done 5 less runs. the mileage is ridiculous actually
  25. Friday... Break out the big spanners and man up, you won't strip that thread easily so go for it...
