I wrote an app for my adventures, mainly flying hiking and cycling that allows my family to track my progress. I found that apps like Whatsapp are not that useful in helping locate you in the case that you get mugged or your phone dies, as it does not leave a breadcrumb trail. There are quite a number of flying schools and riding groups now using it, so give it a go if you want a simple way to be tracked. Your follower does not need the app, you share your track via a secure URL link.

@Shaunus This works really well. Thank you.
The brakes rusting will be the weakness in your frame warranty claim imo. The agents will see them, and rightly or wrongly assume that the bike has be exposed to the elements for an extended period of time.
What are the chances of two separate components viz frame and brakes both having faulty paint processes, which cause rusting? This would be my thought process if I was them.

The turnaround of the country is something truly amazing to see.
Verrry humid, but absolutely cycling centred.
We have been through this conundrum and ended up with hardtail mtbs as our bikes of choice. We wanted a mtb to use as our everyday bike. But, in bikepacking, the ability to have a full frame bag, we found, is game changing. Decent hardtail mtb ticked the boxes for us.
I am currently training for a bikepacking race which is really a gravel race viz tar/gravel and I have put gravel tyres on my mtb. Not the perfect bike for the job, but it works.
Momentum Safe Dayz have become a joke. My wife and I both in the car for the same trip get vastly different trip ratings. Up to 70% different.
Sounds good. If you go on to the Massive Adventures website you can download the 1000 Miler route. This will give you a route to plan around/alter to suit your needs. It is all dirt.
I've done the Race around Rwanda, the bikepacking race organised by the same guys and am going to do it again in Feb. Great organisers and a fantastic place to ride a bike. Some hill repeats in training will help!!! Generally it's either up or down in Rwanda!

They buyout last years stock from importers looking to make place for new years stock - Solomons retail it at very good prices so its a win win - but dont expect, in most cases, the latest models.
I have bought all my MTB's through them and nowhere could I find better prices - in 2012 i purchased a brand new TREK Superfly 10K cheaper than Cyclelab for exact same model of offer.
In 2020 i cracked the frame and Solomons arranged the replacement frame under the TREK lifetime warranty policy, even though they are not a TREK dealer or concept store.
Go into their Woodmead branch and see the wall of high end wheels on offer at prices you won't get anywhere else.
Their online platform might not be on a par with other local online shops but they getting there.
Arshard & Aghtar are really cool guys and always willing to go the extra mile for their customers - Sometimes their staff drop the ball - it happens - just speak to them and they will get it sorted.
Agree. This has been my experience with them too.

It's a new for her bike, and she's experiencing neck/shoulder being, her reach seems a tad too stretched out so I've suggested slightly narrower bars and maybe something with back sweep. Not a noob she's been riding about 10yrs.
What's the chances someone has something lying around in that box if things that they'd be willing to let her try out different options?
Joburg based.
Cheers.
I have a Jones Bar that is not in use that she is welcome to try out if she is prepared to try something very different.
As I read the email, it is from 2024 unless they have made a typo???

Makes me sadder in retrospect that Lachlan Morton had to pull out of last year's event; I doubt they will get names on the list like that again if the situation remains as is.
Is the 'no prize money' something new? There was bitcoin prize the last few years if I am not mistaken.

thanks for checking up with Sling. Initially she wanted a bike up a wide variety of tyre options and when she said "its a Tagati" I figured that it was the standard bike
They built the rear triangle up with mtb tubing, not just the standard road bike tubing, to add strength in case the roads get really bad.

Rather they should have a good look at Diepsloot, where they have just approved a formal housing development in a protected area, alongside the sewer works, informal settlement and other developments there. Low hanging fruit.

KB in 9:40 out 10:35 [55min break]
AZ in 11:15 out 11:50 [35min break]
so the time gap is 1:15 and 23-25km.
I am a believer in slightly longer break equalling increased overall efficiency. I hope I'm correct.
