  1. I am trying my way on this now. First no OTP, now the system just bombs. I have managed to register, that is all. Seriously frustrating.
  2. He took "removing the lawyer's lips" very seriously. Now where did that phrase come from; Johan Borman?
  3. Hotel security a bit slapgat as well. Also, imagine if these 2 little angels had knocked on the door where the narcos were doing a sensitive drug deal! Oh dear.
  4. I'm so glad you asked this. Bugger the fridge, I am thinking ebike. Is it as simple as one of these around 500W to 600W (520Wh to 580 odd Wh) will charge an ebike with a 500Wh battery to maybe 90%?
  5. Great idea, I may not support it personally as I am a dirty person but support the concept. Two comments, maybe not made yet; you could need WD40 or similar just to spray the chain after washing (compressed air blow through is best before this) just to stop rusting which is obvious on the outside. Then, note to potential ebike customers that you will cover up all ebike water sensitive areas (might cost you in condoms unless you can find the free government issue ones lol - small zip loc ok). Best of luck.
  6. Ok, my son (I would never be so silly) cut his hand quite badly just hours before we were to go on a trip so we decided to use CA. Unfortunately the skin wasn't absolutely flat and the edges of the cut lined up so it started healing with a ridge; quite uncomfortable. To the amused GP who trimmed off the glue and used normal stiches.
  7. Ah but be very careful to line the edges of the cut up carefully (no wrinkles) before applying the CA. Correction requires some minor surgery and conventional stitches. Don't ask me how I know.
  8. No one smell a set up by those sly Nick Whitish Ozzies? Disappointed in the Hub I am. 👿
  9. Should maybe be under bicycle related tools but very good YouTube video from, don't shoot the messenger, Aaron Gwin but it describes his mechanics, John Hall's travelling toolbox. Drool inducing.
  10. What a great plan. I am sick and tired of loading a dirt bike, then driving, then finding a safe place to park, all before going for a ride. In SA KZN for now maybe Howick/Karkloof or Underberg. Properly packaged, the missus miiiiiight just nibble.
  11. Appreciate that and my comment was very much tongue in cheek. Was at Sani a few weeks ago - the "no man's land" between the border posts is pretty rough and rocky as well as a few spots with some ice. After the SA border the surfacing is complete and the road is beautiful. But I'm sure you know this.
  12. Disappointed that this topic seems stillborn. Mine started with a friend buying a mid 50's ex SADF Series 1 SWB. on the coast in the mid 70's but with the 2.25litre Series 2 lump engine. That thing was rotten but was stripped and the chassis sandblasted and repainted then began Tour de Scrapyard for a better firewall then a Salisbury rear axles, Series 3 lights and brakes. Then came the Weld Trek with a homemade grille, rollbar and bullbar. Finally a Ford V6 enjin was fitted (plus overdrive and another fuel tank 🤓). That thing went to the Wild Coast, Lesotho and Botswana and as I recall (and my memory is probably wrong) it never let us down.
  13. Why wait for 9km of the trip to be surfaced (could be unlikely at a projected cost of R1bn). A few years ago I was at the top and a few hard men on gravel bikes came up Sani having ridden from Nottingham Rd. Stop snivelling and get out there (TIC).
  14. South Africa
  15. er, bikes that is not chainsaws.
  16. Apologies for straying but old Husqvarna (1970's) had a similar tool but instead of the screwdriver they had a wheel nut spanner (flat plate of course). Very useful.
  17. To keep the derailment going; Pajero's are great (I am considering a Sport or Isuzu Mux after my Fortuner (Tuna;s seem to be getting stolen at accelerated rates)) BUT you must check the timing chain on that 3.2, even before the intervals given. LR Disco 1 starter motor; removed on my lawn using just about every wobble and universal joint extension in my toolbox. That Disco did 320 000km (inc Moz, Zim, Nam, Bots & Lesotho) when I sold it, mechanicals never opened (elec windows and door locks a pain as was the cooling system (replace plastic plugs and new expansion bottle)) and its still going.
  18. I hate to say that this is a circular Hub discussion and every situation is different. If they only want your possessions, no issue but if they are going to maim or kill you, consider doing everything in your power, including preparation. I default back to the guy who killed two of his attackers with a "pocket knife" near Giba. He was fighting for his life (a very well prepared lad I understand).
  19. I have an old Mule. Starting from the top and memory (then I checked); cell phone, spare cable, small custom first aid kit, waterproof bag for phone, cable ties (too many), CD for mirror (??), Lezyne pump, part toilet roll, duct tape & space blanket. Front; specs, asthma pump, Leatherman, money, cards etc, chain lube, sunscreen, puncture repair kit+tubeless valve, black rubbish bags & nitrile gloves. Between the two compartments; spare tube, multi tool, plugs & CO2 kit; ICE bangle on one strap. Usually 1 to 2 litres liquid in a 3 litre bladder. Still a little space 😁.
  20. Sounds like it was an Epic (pardon) ride that snuck up on some and lots was learnt about riding in the cold and wet, painfully so for some. I paid my dues in a wet Sani when it was still in Feb (how cold can it get - very cold it turned out). We were immersing ourselves in the streams to try get mud and leaves off the clogged wheels. All good while pedalling but my partner destroyed his derailleur 5km from the finish and we nearly froze to death trying to fix it, teeth chattering, Shrek collected us and I am still thawing out. My lessons learnt: I now ride with nitrile surgical gloves and a space blanket in my Camelbak, always. A really good thermal base layer is good (was Helly Hansen (wish I could get), now a silver lined Columbia) but I feel better than the CUM / First Ascent. A cold weather Buff is also helpful. In Lesotho I often ride with a spare, dry base layer in my CamelBak, just in case. Other excellent advice already given.
  21. I have had a pair of the photochromatic D'Arcs for a good few years - used for cycling only, not the interchangeable lens type (I have a pair of those for the car) but I really like the brand. They seem tough, not easy to break (although I have 4 or 5 I have broken over the years). I really like the photochromatic D'Arcs I do have BUT I have not tried anything else.
  22. Stunning thanks. For SA aviation excitement is blowing the cost of such an airshow running an airline that is really a feeding trough for ANC crooks and refuelling a Russian jet in defiance of sanctions it seems.
  23. He hee from memory maybe a DT 360 or 250 so early 70's; must be Andyman (or a friend of his). Too old for Mr Min (Jeff would have had a full on MX bike). Lighty has a look of Russell Campbell 👺
  24. Also and particularly after many trails were unused during covid and recent good rains there are plenty bushes (some with nasty thorns) on the trails. Long sleeved shirts (I wear anyway due to basal cell etc) and full finger coverage gloves are very worthwhile. Or leave some bark and blood.
  25. Probably both but the results should tell you. My YT "research" (Dr Stuart McGill mainly I think) on back pain says exercises that require severe (as far as possible, foot to bum or touching of toes) bending at the waist or even of the knees should be avoided.
