  1. So I went for a run last night, and need some advice. It was my first run in many months, and probably my 3rd in the last 12 months, so I'm definitely not running fit. Distance: 8.7km; 104m elevation gain Time: 45:45 Pace: 5:16 Heart rate: 174 ave, 183 max So according to my HRM, I was running at 90+% for 45min. Is this normal, or ok? Possible that my max HR is higher (220-31=189bpm). The 1st km or two my breathing was heavy, but afterwards felt like I can easily sustain it and even push harder. I eventually got bored, and returned home - I was kinda knackered afterwards. Will my HR come down if I become "running fit" or should I pace myself? I find running at a slower pace more effort and strain on my legs.
  2. Probably one of the reasons they faded away. I'm still surprised to see what cult following Morewood had overseas.
  3. Almost 6 month lead time - how do they stay in business!?!?!? If I had to wait that long for a bicycle, sense would have gotten the better of me and invested all that money instead.

  5. Lekker rock garden man, add some doubles and you'll even draw the #enduro crowd.
  6. Wanted to ride jonkers this morning. Just decided I'm not in the mood for suffering. Sorry to all those who put a lot effort and planning into this event. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Thanks for explaining, now I also understand what the fuss is all about.
  8. That 2nd photo summarizes these events for me; standing/waiting an hour in a queue to spend 10 min racing. Wish we rather had the equivalent of Megavalanche.
  9. thanx Yeah, first one, also didn't watch the whole video. Seems like I must make the effort to go ride Contermans then.
  10. Where's this trail in the video, didn't catch that?
  11. These people will still not be able to ride down a trail, and will most likely end up with a broken clavicle or with torn ACLs.
  12. Now Fat e-bikes would make a lot of sense to me - that would be fun and make slogging through thick sand easier and fun.
  13. I really don't get this concern for the longevity of single tracks. Most people on mountain bikes ride gravel roads in any case, often skipping the fun single track/dh trails, and some of them even ride trail bikes. The okes that can/do shred it on trails, will probably never ride e-bikes any ways, and those that don't will still be slow on trails and destroy it with braking etc in corners, be it on a e-bike or not.
  14. The gist of my post was that they're not cool. I.e. you have no bragging rights when riding one - not that riding any bicycle gives you bragging rights though, but less so on an e-trail bike. Of course E-bikes will have it's place, somewhere, but let us not give it too much credit yet in mtb-ing - we might end up regretting that somewhere in the future. Drawing a comparison to Netherlands bike sales is also kinda flawed. A LOT (I don't have the numbers to say whether it's in the majority or not) of people commute on their bikes over in Europe - so it would only be natural for e-bikes to be popular as a means of easier transport. But out on the trails...keep it real.
  15. Firm grasp for the obvious there! So what exactly is your point, because I cringed way too much at that little jibe of yours to notice?
  16. e-bikes, and e-cigarettes is all the same and lame AF! Do it if it makes you happy, but don't think for one second it's cool. You wanna blow big clouds of smoke, don't be a pussy and vape. Hit a Camel filter. Same goes for the rest of the e-wankery.
  17. Only one of those sumo wrestling suits could, maybe, do that for me.
  18. ^^^I'll stick with vanilla RockShox.
  19. What a goofy looking circus bike. These looooong reach, super slack bikes really don't appeal to me.
  20. Yeah, compare that to a mountain bike (s-works) model, it seems quite excessive. Minus ~R20k for the groupset as mentioned in another post. That's basically R120k for frame and carbon wheels. Where's the suspension, dropper post etc.?
  21. It's not an ugly bike at all, but the name puts me off. Might as well call Griesel, Bezuidenhout or Hofmeyer.
  22. But that would imply the bike shop actually provided a service with your purchase. What's next? A 12 month service plan? Isn't waiting 2+ weeks for stock to arrive, and no demo models available already enough?
  23. Grrrr, skip. For me, as a minimum requirement the frame needs to house a full sized water bottle inside the front triangle.
  24. you switch between forks?
