  1. @Kwashi, Did it last year,So if the route is the same then: not technical so the Noobs in ur team will be fine, the exeprienced guys can hammer. Only thing that got me was the railway tracks but that was towards the end of the day, but that was a concentration issue. Route is fine with two sharp climbs but not major or long, just energy sapping after a day of riding. One nice downhill that is long and fun. Also you ride a section on the MX Track so that is fun. It will be very hot no matter what, u will get hot in the sun, there is a pool close to the route as u come towards the clubhouse, great to just dip ur head in when ur riding or go chill if ur not riding. Take ur Umbrella's and camping chairs to sit around and socialise. Was a well organised an event worth doing, vibe is chill and it is fun.
  2. Like their gels and as they are the gel u get at the waterpoints in IM Sanctioned races I have learnt to use them. Used their drink on 5150 and almost hurled, and I race on Peptopro so used to crappy tasting drink but this one took the enamel of my teeth. Bars are okay but doesnt beat Redbars.
  3. Firstly be carefull of stomach issues when using any painkiller. Aspirin is known to cause a thermoregulation effect, means ur body overheats/dehydration and you wont know it. Iboprufen and Advil can cause renal failure, but they seem to be the preferred weapon of choice with a lot of guys. If ur taking the stuff once off to mask the pain that you go thru...it's up to u. But if you take it regularly for something specific like tendinitis etc ur just gonna mess it up further.
  4. What do we normally do with goody bags? I first chuck out all the vouchers, have yet to find a voucher that really creates any value except one that says 100% Discount on anything you Buy. Then I proceed to eat anything that looks edible, that includes the majority of stuff that has allready expired, hence the reason why they are in the bag. If I survive eating all the expired stuff I investigate the other stuff normally samples, and then evaluate the potential value add , normally ends up at zero, this is also then turfed. If you are lucky enough to get a T-shirt that fits (last surprise was 5150 where the Small was more X-LARGE)which is then investigated for: will this do as a training shirt? and most of the time mine end up still in the plastic in my sports closet. So in short SWAG always ends up in some form of disappointment, so why try to create false value and rather give us the option to forego the Goody Bag and Medal and drop the entry fee. That topic has been discussed to death before. If you were really getting R800 in value then the logic applies that that if you do not take the goody bag u save the organisers R800 that they can put towards the free entry....Logical?

  7. @Spinnekop, what's the URL for Competitive Cycles, Google wil nie die ding kry nie
  8. @Garfield re cramps: In Chris McCormack's book "Im here to Win" he talks about the cramping issue, there are two types of hydration: one at a Muscular-Cellular Level and one at a blood plasma level. In some cases when people hydrate just with water 2-3 days before a race they fill their plasma volume but the osmois across the cell wall does not happen. U need to hydrate your muscles. He used a mineral based hydration approach that contained magnesium, calcium, potassium and sodium to saturate the muscles. He started by eating bananas and supplements slowly and then integrated this as not to shock the system.
  9. Will be there
  10. I have been getting it as part of the regime to fight Coxsachie virus. I find that it does make me feel better but the reason I get it is different to yours, that being said it does boost my immune system.I take it a week before an event and then usually make it thruogh and dont get sick afterwards as the Coxsachie virus just loves it when ur immune system is under pressure. So for me it does have an immune boosting effect.

    BSG Rules

Cinelli Bars should also be legal
  12. Also in the same boat looking for Small 29ER, only one I am aware of is Volcan, is there any other?
  13. Buy Joe Friel's book Triathlete's Bible, struggle thru the first 3 chapters of stuff he could have said in 10 pages but is nb to understand then do the tests and determine what discipline/s you need to focus on and what type of training. Each one of us is different and going by what others do is not what you need to do.
  14. Was good for the first time, Registration was a bit disorganised but nothing major. Swim was a interesting because of the shallowness with a lot of guys porpoising even the Pro's. At our start group they fished out a dead hadeda or something before the start. In general nice and good for the spectators to have perfect view of the swim. Cycle was a surprise since the lady at registration said you will be able to average 33km going out....sure tannie. Bit confusing riding on the right but once u got used to it it was okay. Would be nice if they would just mark the speedbumps I only saw the one close to town when I was on it, first time I got airborne on a tri bike. Thought we would get full road closure Run was nice and flat thru the resort with a lot of spectators around and yeah saw the warthogs. Volunteers were friendly and they can only get better. Overall a very nice race and a nice vibe enjoyed it and will be back next year

    Wetsuits

Can also vouch for Terry and Xterra wetsuits, I have the Vendetta and previously an Orca 3.8. Xterra better by far.
  16. ASG has doe excellent work to build a brand but I have had experience of their so called lens replacemnt gaurantee which was poor. Regarding Grey Imports, we had a similar issue here at work, good luck trying to sue anyone bringing in grey as it can be seen as anit competitive behaviour.
  17. Have the Conti and it is a bitch to get on but lasts, going to my second season with mine.
  18. Oh yeah and TRANSACT works use it!
  19. Firstly have u been diagnosed by a dr? If not make sure could also be tendinitis.Go to a Biokineticist for your rehab. Then make sure u do your rehab, some of those exercises are very gay and u think what the hell but do it and u will be amazed. The thing they look at apart from the rehab is to get your leg strength within 12-15% of each other otherwise you will always have issues. Good Luck!
  20. Have they clarified what u get for the entry fee, if u just get to race and nothing else then yes it's a rip. So let's see what is in the entry, but it better be damn good for this price!
  21. +2 for Terry I have an Xterra suit and it is worth it
  22. What I mean by technology is the software that uses the images/clip taken by camera then transferred to the software program to measure angles etc correctly. The only pleace that he used the machanical means was the old knee over the spindle with the plum line. @thug not sure what he charges....I had my 3 bikes done for R1100 approx if I can recall @sungun I had my initial setup done at Troisport and it was done by sight.....was not very happy.
  23. Go see Mike at SBR Sports in Sunninghill Village,he uses proper technology. He did my setup one week before IMBC and I was very worried that I made the classic error, but from the moment I got on the bike I felt comfortable. Call him Tel # 0110242969
  24. Lot of MTBers out there, One is a manager of the Spar and I forget his name-ask Slowbee he knows who i am talking about, maybe PM him
