  1. Thanks FP, I did one of the First Redstone Races and there was some technical stuff, especially the one secion that went up the trees and there was a very dodgy singletrack with a wicked drop to the side that section ended up at the rivercrossing, that's why I was asking. it could get congested.
  2. @ Faceplant What's the route like at Island Estate?
  3. Hard as it may sound but if you are not able to swim without a wetsuit then do not enter, harsh... I agree. Tri is a journey and u challenge urself more than most sports.Start swimming thru something like Total Immersion etc and u will be surprised. Swimming is mostly about technique and once u have that going the confidence will come. Imagine what it will do for your confidence not only in sport but in Life if you conquer that hurdle!
  4. Dankie
  5. I know that it has moved but there is limited info...I like to plan ahead
  6. @Faceplant whassup with the Prestige Ultra....cannot find any details/entry etc?
  7. Sportbasement is selling the Volcan XC-29 with XX at R25k, worth a look.
  8. @GARFIELD, simple answer to your question is No....sadly, this clown has a history and when he was suspected it was for MTBing not Tri and the two I think has mutually exclusive governing bodies. So easy if you get into trouble for one sport just change codes hopefully he will start running out of sports codes to change to as I would not hold my breath for the governing bodies to take their heads out of the sand.

My 2c on cramping is that the prevention starts a couple of days before the race not on the race, once u start cramping ur pretty much cooked.
  10. Cisca Landman close to the Bell Street Hospital last I remember, she worked with DCM etc. Can recommend her as she sorted out my problems.
  11. Bell and Giro same company, Bell owns Giro and if I am not mistaken they have the same warrantee policy as do Rudy. Best is to fit them and decide, just one caution I have Bell sweep and if I once more catch those back pointy things in a door, cupboard etc....anycase they are look cool but are flimsy when they catch on things.
  12. If ur training for IMBC or similar my answer would be NO, if ur training for IMSA then it is also NO. It takes a while for the body to recover from 32km and Up and might compromise ur immune system, muscle recovery etc. The one thing I have learnt is that these races that come up and we just wanna do it but it just messes with your training, best to look at the Calendar and your training plan and rate the Races as A, b, C. A races is IMBC/SA, B might be 5150 or 11 gLOBAL and C might be 94.7, this is an axample. Nothing comes in the way of your A race and this is what you RACE, and if there is a Race that fits in a Certain Phase of training then sure use it as TRAINING and not a race or just to test the body. If the Tuff One fits into a plan then great but just to do it, to do it then if I were u I would reconsider. My 2CENTS

  17. Overall vast improvement on previous years. Some positives: Silicone swimcap, I hate pulling those latex hair removal devices off after the swim. Swim route was better. Did they change the hill? anycase cycle route was good. Saw some naughty boys drafting, okes if u do that in Paul Wolfe's race he'll have u, just a friendly word of advice. Good marshalls in general (See below about Negatives, there's always one frustrated library prefect). Good crowd support. Marshalls at the waterpoints and the guys watering the golf course....they enthusiastically doused us, good fun. The sponges were a lifesaver Valley of the waves entry, i had more fun than a 7yr old Developmental areas (The Registartion was like a treasure hunt. Loooooong Transition, almost thought I was on the run allready except with my bike. T1 No marshal on the mount/dismount and no clear mount lines, dude when u point at an imaginery line and yell at me to dismount there when I am bleeding from the eyeballs dont expect me to mind read within 1cm. That marshall tannie in the Bike transition that kept yelling and huffing on her whistle at guys to zip up their tops...Tannie dis hotter than a snake's ass in a wagonrut, a bit of sympathy rather than tyranny. The heat on the run.....
  18. @Seeker 911 Off Topic Hijack, what's Linden Pool like to trai in?
  19. Dont think so, the spacing on the compact does not allow for a standard chainring...I had the same issue with my SRAM so not sure if it is the same as Shimano
  20. @Help.Me, how as ur Max HR Calculated? Karvonen?
  21. Not much unless you know what you are training for and wanted to achieve in the training session. To just go and ride and not have a purpose defeats the object of training, yes there is a place for just going for a nice ride with mates and enjoying but that should at least be with some purpose. So let's look at ur data: The assumption is based on that u have set the correct THR and that u are using Polar Zones Wwhere u spent most of ur time was Zone 3 is Aerobic Stamina Zone 4 is Aerobic Endurance So in general if u wanted a good training ride that would help your general fitness then I would say it did it's job. ut once again not sure where u are in your training and what ur objective was for the ride. At least you did not spend to much time in Zone 1, 2, 5 and that is good
  22. dizzyness=Low Blood Pressure? but not normal and speculation is not gonna help u, suggest u go to a Specialist Physician not ur GP.
