What is the procedure for cycling the route twice? Does one simply walk into the starting pens at the back? Does the timing chip not get picked up by the mats (is it best to take the chip off)? Do the officials not check numbers etc. and disqualify your result?

Thinking of doing the second lap with my dad who starts late.

Best 2007 - 2:50

Worst 2009 - Wind, puncture in Hospital bend, chain got stuck between the BB and crank on Boyes Drive, Wind and then I battled to survive and stay upright to the end, Wind!

No. 9 for me this year. Fastest was 3:07 in 2008 out of H group. Best (if you can call it that) was the "Tour of Storms" of 2009, F group, 3:32:13. Popular belief is that this translates to about a 2:50 under normal circumstances. Last year (2010)was my slowest, 03:43:59 out of D group.

This year I'm in E, hoping for between 3:15 and 3:30.
