Siemens S1! Was so heavy if you put it in your pocket it would rip your trousers off! Could be used as a weapon of self defence. When I showed it to my kids a couple of years ago they wondered what it was!! Made and received calls! Nothing else> Sometimes I long for that simplicity!

My first cell phone was the Siemens S3, to which I added the extended battery. It was literally the size of a brick

When was this launched?

I currently have an S5, but with the iPhone 6 out I figured the S6 was going to follow shortly.

here you can see it with it's charger. That's because the two were never far apart. My model was a hand me down from dad, so it had been charged and made pap far too many times. it came with a badass battery pack, a MONSTER 750mah nimh beast

19 voertsek. i remember buying it off gumtree.

then moved way on from the S6 to the stratosperic S35

and then I realised that being a student and all, a drunk proof phone was probably the way to go. enter the siemens M35, as far as i know the first ever waterproof phone locally available.

the problem was that it was waterproof, as long as all the grommits were in place. there was one at the back for an external antenna(of all things) that didn't fit as snug as the others. so eventually, after a lot of dunking in liquids(mostly beer) as a party trick, it got a black screen the one time with the grommit loose.

phone got dismantled, sat under the hairdryer and then worked for another 2/3 months before it was properly broken.

damn, i miss my siemens phones. eventually the mobile division got sold off  to Benq, who did sweet diddly squat with it.
