That's cos it's only recognising the 5% as an actual percentage. ie it's thinking 30-(2*5%) = 30-(2*0.05) = 30-0.1

 

EDIT: No, wait. It's expressing the percentages as a decimal. 0.02 * 0.05 = 0.001 which is 0.1%

 

Excel is a tricky bitch when it comes to percentages. As is the question, because if you do the calculation without dropping the percentages, it automatically reverts to the decimal equivalent, which corrupts the equation. 

excel is always right and thats all there is to it
