Damn... if only I knew then what we know now..... I'd have hung onto a lot more things

Even a decent condition RZ50LC is in excess of 20K. (if you can find one)

Bought my last one for R820.00 in 1981, which was a crap load of money for a Fifty in those days.

put this one on the sailing thread, but here it is to a wider audience.

father son team. kid is 26 and this is his 12th atlantic crossing. dad in his fifties has basically sailed the distance to the moon and back.

they set the new record for open cat transatlantic crossing, senegal to guagaloupe. No cabin on the boat, not even a stove so they basically ate nuts and energy bars for 11 days. and averaged just under 10 knots, day and night! this was done in April

Impressive.

Few people know that the first open boat circumnav of the globe was done by South African Ant Stewart in a Dudley Dix designed 19' Cape Henry. He still lives in Cape Town.

Thanks for posting that link. Good to watch. The kind of thing that make me say: When do we go?

Note: "Goop (often stylized as goop) is a lifestyle brand launched by actress and singer Gwyneth Paltrow in September 2008 originally as a weekly e-mail newsletter with New Age advice like "police your thoughts" and "eliminate white foods", and the slogan "Nourish the Inner Aspect". (Wiki)

UK to ban petrol and diesel cars from 2040

The United Kingdom announced today that it will ban the sale of petrol and diesel vehicles from 2040. The move is a clear attempt to cut down air pollution and emissions. However, by 2040 at the current rate of global climate change, British motorists might well be breathing from oxygen masks 24/7 anyway.

Did a PE - EL trip solo on a 16' cat in my youth once.  Not easy, no matter how crazy you are.

Cross an ocean - NEVER!

Sailing is intense. I have a friend who used to sail regularly and even instruct in sailing. He sailed plenty places. Good sport, very expensive clothing!!
