Yup. I did. LOL. And yep, Battlefield Earth. Book was far superior to the movie.

The Mission Earth decalogy used up a fair chunk of my childhood! A few years ago I scoured old bookshops and reaquired the full set. They should a standard read for all youngsters.

My mother wanted me to read more, so she paid me R20 per book. Made a pretty penny reading mission earth and other multi-book series.

Not sure she had L Ron Hubbard In mind...

Men of that era don't have a great track record when it comes to women & children. Throw in the lunatic fringe caused by scientology and LRH has been called satanic, paedophilia, evil, alcoholic etc - who knows how much of it is true.

 

The books did have a "young woman" theme though!
