Took a drive around one of the neighbouring areas a little while ago. Used the same settings as I used for the Dragonfly, although I think I should have selected a higher F stop for this one.http://i1204.photobucket.com/albums/bb417/Fruitloop80/DSC_0868a_zpslrspfq9i.jpg

Yes for landscape, close down your aperture abit, but you would need to shoot on a tripod or increase ISO so you don't get any camera shake. F11 - F16 generally works well for landscape scenes where you want the entire scene to be I'm focus.

Thanks Vivek, I appreciate the advice.

My first serious attempt at the astro thing.

Changed the contrast and that is it.

Not entirely happy with the composition etc of the image - but it is not a bad start either. Need to do a bit more reading and tweaking and figuring out the development a bit more.

Care to share your settings?

Astro does get vert tricky, and you really need to get in as much light as possible. Alot more difficult with entry level equipment but not impossible. Ideally you would want to use a full frame body and a fast lens - f2.8 or better. You will be shooting at high Iso so as the full frame handles noise better you will end up with a much cleaner image.

Also need to just play around with shutter speeds ranging from about 10-30 seconds. Anything longer and you will get movement of the stars.

It's rewarding when you get it right, enjoy!
