Our Japanese Shiba Inu.

..................

I saw a couple of those recently and had no idea what they were.......now I know! They were wonderfully athletic, attentive and very intelligent looking dogs. Won't you please tell us a bit more about the breed?

They are similar but much smaller. In the movie, the puppy they used was actually a shiba inu, and the grown up was a proper Akita.

They are like Cats almost. Demand attention from you when it suits them, and when they do not want attention they ignore you. Ours is a lot more cuddleable than most, so we got lucky. But when she does not want attention and you bother her, she goes into a permanent snarl.

they are like small full of **** hair factories. you cannot believe how much this little 7.5KG dog can shed in a day.

We got her while living in Japan, brining her with us back to SA. Crazy, crazy process...

With the heat in Gauteng at the moment our 'adopted' Lab Tess (she actually belongs to our cottage occupants) spends most of the day in the pool. Some of the time just lying on the step ....

It's a dogs life! I sometimes wish I could live one. :)

Lucky Tess!

This is the state of our pool, with the recently acquired pool cover still needing a final trim (waiting for the predicted rain next week before I do any more cutting). The water BARELY covers the second step.

We are babysitting the two schnauzers and the Airedale in the background.

Pleased to say that Bruce has lost some weight.. gosh he still has a lot to lose but he is getting there... that dog is crazy.. He hasn't skipped his daily walk (well he doesnt let us skip a day) but it is difficult to get him to understand that 3pm is too hot to walk and the kids have school work..so he has to wait till 6pm..he finds that most upsetting.. He walks for about 2-3km every day.. once he has lost just a little more weight we'll increase the distance a bit..

So funny he sprints out the gate for about 200m then he is kaput and walks the rest of the way[emoji23][emoji23]

I should really record his excitement.. it is hilarious.

Alaska! Cool name for a dog. I said recently goodbye to a Lab called that after 13 years of companionship!

As to riding with dogs, it's fairly easy if they're good walkers.

As I posted earlier, here's Tumbleweed on his birthday run.
