My feeling is that it's mildly racist. He's gone out of his way to accentuate her with thick lips, no issue with the "butch" body image, she does look like that!

So the white guy with the massive ears and the one with the massive forehead?? What was his excuse for those? Oh yes, sorry - they are white...

Yes they are white, but would you say did the artist depict the "victim" in this cartoon as a white blond girl when she is black/asian... Maybe just a coincidence.

Even if the ink colour had been darker on the Osaka girl, there would still be nit picking and trying to put a racial angle on it..... I guess how you see it is up to interpretation... especially since she has a blonde ponytail

But lets not let that detract from being able to bang the drums and play the card.....

This is how she looked in the final, not so sure those highlights are a "get-out-of-jail-free" card for the cartoonist. Anyway, interpret is as you like, the point is just I can see why the cartoon is considered racist. I think it would have been very helpful if that "ink colour had been darker"!!

The difference is the fact that thee is a well-documented history of black peoples going through centuries of degradation and legitimised slavery, standards like the 'pencil test' from the apartheid era and other systems of classification as well as the fact that it is a commonly held belief that black peoples are inferior to white people.

Awareness is key. Socio-political awareness is key-er.

This is offensive.  Gingers have also been discriminated against for much longer.  It started with the Roman's building the wall, keeping us out of England.  Then it was the Norse that arrived and Pillaged our villages and Churches.  Then it was the Angles and Saxon.  Then after that the English banned the bagpipes and shipped us off to Nova Scotia, and forced us to fight in endless wars against our darker brothers.  Do not forget our Irish Cousins that were sold into Slavery in the US of A and the Caribbean Sugar estates.  Also do not forget about the potato blight and the depopulation of the glens of Scotland.  Then the troubles of Ireland where Irish were pitted against Irish.   You talk about your discrimination, Amateurs.

Despite this we gave you macadamized roads, Macintosh's, Adam Smith, Iain Ferguson,  the Haggis, Whisky, Bagpipes, the kilt, blue face paint, Robert Bruce, tartan, Irnbru, Gordon Brown

Los Angeles - Male tennis players are almost three times more likely to be fined for losing their temper and smashing racquet's than their female counterparts, The New York Times reported Saturday

Male players were slapped with 1,517 fines compared to 535 fines for females according to data compiled by officials at Grand Slam tournaments for the period covering 1998 to 2018.

The figures obtained by the Times show that men received 649 fines for breaking racquets to 99 for women in tens of thousands of matches in the four Grand Slams over the last two decades.

Men were fined 344 times compared to 140 for "audible obscenity" and 287 to 67 for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Statistically, men also play more games than women.

Not sure how that impacts the numbers.

There is no hierarchy for oppression and suffering.

Either you're joking or your sarcasm is in bad taste.

The context for this extensive discussion is a black professional woman, not the Irish, or any other tribe that was oppressed or suffered. Hence, my references.

So serena wasn't aware of where the ball was on the court and now blames the socio-political landscape for her p1 ss-poor performance and throwing of toys? She displays a mentality also rampant in South Africa today...
