GidB Posted June 27, 2018 Share Have a look at the Alex Duetto, also in the same range as the Lelita. Dual Boiler, PID control....
V12man Posted June 27, 2018 Share Wait...this is escalating quickly! My bad, I actually meant "...leaning strongly towards the Lelit Bianca " and not Linea Mini. But then after reading some more the Profitec Pro 700 caught my eye, but now I am actually in Linea Mini territory and completely clueless again. I will ask advice on the grinder later but trust me I will NOT skimp on the grinder as I can gather it plays a major if not THE biggest roll. If you guys are bored please check the official Lelit Bianca site out and give me your thoughts, please. Value for money wise it seems good, but I've read the Profitec Pro 700's are very good too. Thanks gents.Once you are beyond a certain price point then it largely depends on the features you want and the aesthetics of the machine. Things that are important to me in no particular order are: Rotary pumpAestheticsCool touch wandsDual boilerVolumetricsPID And if you are not plumbing in water and drain them add water tank size and accessibility and catch tray size. Oh... and you better add SWMBO approval on aesthetics... they are NOT partial to 80lb grinders on the countertop... as I have learned... ???????? the nerd Posted June 27, 2018 Share i second the list V12 describes above: Rotary pump is a game changer if you coming from Vibe machines. *I now have 2x biiiiiig grinders on the counter and the wife is not loving them... Krypt0n1te

Anyone give me some guidance on how much a grinder should cost - something that doesn't become the biggest single appliance in the kitchen. So a compact home grinder. then on specs of machines - double boiler etc seems to be important - what other specs matter?
PhilipV Posted June 27, 2018 Share My Oscar is at esspresoworks for a new pressurestat and a service, and both Wifey and I are loving the space it opened up when took it in. So now I'm rethinking the entire kitchen layout. Will most likely move the coffee station to a sideboard. Fortunately it isn't plumbed in so moving it isn't a train smash. the nerd Posted July 6, 2018 Share Any one looking for a decent on demand grinder? I have an Expobar Hey Cafe On demand Im looking at getting rid of. It is used, has been in a shop for a few years but still works solidly. Bought it for the coffee stand but its a little slow for our demands so its back to the doser for now. Alouette3 Posted July 10, 2018 Share Still on the look out for that perfect starter machine. Went to go look at a Gaggia Classic yesterday that was going at a great price, but used my better judgement (for a change) and gave it a miss, think it had been in the back of the cupboard a couple years to many, which was unfortunate. M L Posted July 19, 2018 Share Very cool thread! I use a Seaco Poemia. Bought it 3 years ago and it was my first espresso machine. Other than the Seaco, I use my aeropress. What I have found extremely helpful is how far quality coffee beans will get you. I like buying from Legado, Espresso Lab or Rosetta.
HappyMartin Posted July 20, 2018 Share There is a coffee and chocolate expo at Monti Casino this weekend. Worth a visit if you like fudge otherwise not worth the eternal traffic jam.
hansolo Posted July 23, 2018 Share I spoiled myself a bit and bought a Rancilio Silvia (and a doserless Rocky grinder) a while back. Initially stated off with a "normal" little blade grinder and quickly found out it was not capable enough... I'm quite pleased with the setup thus far, any tips/advice from other Silvia/Rocky owners? What grind setting do you normally use?

As for advice on the Silvia - backwash often, and descale at least once a month - coffee tastes much better with a clean machine.
