The solution to (drunk) motorists killing other road users? Opinions/Suggestions:

I had words with the driver just past 8am this morning here in Seaview where he was arrested, drunk out of his skull, almost 20km from where he killed the cyclist and ran. All I can say is that I hope justice will be served and that he gets found guilty of murder, and serves his 25 years...

Very sad-

The picture tells all.

This is truly so sad, we all partake in a sport that we love but besides the inevitable crashes and bike jackings we have to endure this as well?

Well done Bennie on posting this excrement's car

Bet you the pic will be taken off soon due to his numberplate showing, but I spoke to the guy myself and he was completely drunk. May he get what is due to him...

A group of cyclists should picket at his first appearance at court.

Put this photo up on that traffic group in PE but black out number plate.

RIP...... So sad

It notice a new fashion, mostly Golf and Polo drivers with the sound system on full blast and their seat backrest moved very flat. Only the round of their heads sticking out above the dashboard. I have noticed it not once but many many times. How much can these guys see of the road. Surely it is illegal to drive like that????

So true. It is unacceptable to sit like that. No way can that driver see the road. The loud music surely is against traffic laws as you.cant hear anything. These idiots either cruise at 60kmph in the right hand lane on the hi way or fly like a bat out of hell in city streets. Somebody died today. He was trying to live a healthy life. Some drunkard coward murdered him and like a chicken shite left the scene when he had to face the law. RIP cyclist friend. Edited by THE BLOODY AGENT

The outcome of this will be closely scrutinised ........ the driver responsible for Clem's death must be accountable for his actions. You can't have drunks like this killing innocent people. This is nothing short of murder.

Prehaps a percentage of monies we pay in race fees should be used for cases like this to make use of a lawyer to assist the state in ensuring prosecution?

Dunno about entry fees, but for sure License and various governing body affiliation fees should go towards an initiative like this. Brilliant idea.

I presume there will be a bail appearance tomorrow?? Great idea to have a presence there... even some kind of demonstration?? Chalk some body outlines in the road? This is murder.

But protest is just hot air unless it's aimed at something. How about focusing on getting traffic cops off their bums to do drunk driving checks or something? Other thoughts??

Hubber I knew was killed like this while out running a few years ago. Also hit and run. Also just missed his buddy. Guys tried to do something and did put pressure on at the trial... but, in the end, guy's in jail, family without father, and speed humps that were placed on the road where he was killed make it almost impossible to cycle there but do little to stop speeding. People just go off-road round them.

And I and my neighbors can do f-all about the guys two doors up who drink and drive most weekends.

So we need some ideas about how to change the big story too. I just feel so sad, not being able to change anything.

But thanks to all in PE who are following this, getting involved. And strength to family, friends...My thoughts are truly with you.

RIP...
