CTL will always have a ceiling per person/athlete. Unless you can do for argument sakes 85 TSS/Day you wont go over your current or where you typically stabilise.

Rather get consistent quality in that chase CTL.

Yeah, my biggest issue is getting those consistent long rides in.

Most of the rides I miss are the 3-4hr long rides that do the most for you(TSS wise)

I did a 3 day hike over Bushmans Pass 2 weeks ago and that hurt me.

Tracked with with HR and it was a TSS of 307 for 5 hours of walking.

Previous week

TSS 514

IF 0.60

Last week. The legs were still hurting and I was down on power.

TSS 365

You can do a shorter intensity session correctly and get a same and sometimes more value.

3.5 Hour ride typically around 170TSS

Pyramid intervals 1-4 and 4-1. 2 hours 165-168TSS.

My right knee was bugging me so I took my tuesday session off.

TSS 711

IF - 0.8

Finally my CTL stays in the 80's after rest days

Did a nice hill climb day yesterday, 3:45 giving me 300 TSS, was pretty tough.

Also, I think I'm doing a FTP test this week or next week, depending on my work schedule.

Was a solid week of training, had a good hard long ride on Saturday with some PB on my run yesterday, although feel like I tweaked my ITB...... this week might turn into a forced rest week

TSS: 668

IF: 0.69

I am not enjoy intervals at the moment and no motivation to go hard on the trainer, so alot of last week was from the holiday and saturday's long ride.

Work stress is just killing my vibe.

Dont stress about that, its just what you said "dropping" just cause the line and value drops, doesn't mean your fitness does. Too many people chase or focus on CTL. Your fitness and training load you have built up isnt going anywhere.

the more I'm reading your posts (here and twitter) the more I'm ignoring all the numbers and going on "feel"

the only numbers I work on at the moment is FTP to determine workout intensity.

For what it's worth I followed the cycleops 8 week power based program (IDT only) they gave away as part of the comp they ran earlier this year, combined with a long ride over weekends. I finished 2nd overall (1st in age) at the Daily Dispatch 50km last week.

power training works even for newbies like me, so I can now justify spending 12k on an indoor trainer. now just to save up a bit and get a proper training plan done

Watching CTL drop is figuratively depressing to see and know what you mean with regard to not loosing fitness as my tapers for full Ironman generally start 3 to 4 weeks prior to the event and being a data junkie have a good idea with regard to how much I know my CTL can drop and the time element before fitness is impacted, yet gaining form

Still recovering from my ITB so last weeks numbers

Not getting sick is so important... after a bit of a light cold I am still trying to work my way out of without overdoing it - it's extremely difficult holding back and not push harder

Recent FTP test proved a 35w drop in ftp due to the cold -> I really hope all them lost ponies come back soon...

So depressing...
