Well this thread escalated quickly.

id say - back to the point at hand...

Karma did everything exactly right. Confronting in the shop would have achieved nothing. and secondly, going to Social media to raise an issue is how things are done nowdays. A good company keeps track of references to their brand across all social media platforms and responds accordingly - whether it be an apology or an explanation.

If you want to see how its done properly - see this thread https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/124732-salomon-running-shoe-problems/page__hl__salomon

C'mon, it's a time of brotherhood and generosity.

Calm down this hand bag slinging now.

What's with all this confrontation stuff. You are lucky if a customer does that. 99 % vote with their feet. And 1% who do complain normally don't get resolution anyway. I can happily say that if I got dissed like this then I would also be baying for blood here.

I vote with my feet. I don't want to confront. Just treat me well in the first place.

Social media is open to all, so why not use it. If you think you have a case then reply. It can be done.

Remember rule 1.) The customer is never wrong. Rule 2.) When the customer is wrong refer to rule 1.)

Anyone who deals with people needs to understand this.

What is it with bike shops and the people who run them. Why can't they get his, even as the people who buy from them flock to online retailers.

Actually, to be pedantic, the rule states that the customer is king.

So even when a customer is wrong they should be treated like a king. If a customer tells you carbon is heavier than steel they would be wrong and you would let them know. You wouldn't say "you are wrong @rsehole" because you wouldn't speak to a king like that.

Definitely the reason I posted and in the end better service is providedthumbup1.gif

When dealing with customers, they will return if they get good treatment but if they have a negative experience and the sales guy/manager ect manages to turn the situation around sort them out they generally have a client for life. Just my 2c

Funny. There is always two sides to a story. I bought five bikes in the last year from Bicycle Trader and I am extremely happy with the service I have received. The owner was not just accommodating but went out of his way to help me find the right bike to be able to compete in an event next year. It saddens me that you need to use social media to settle personal vendetas.
