I lost my virginity, came back for more... on a clown bike

Right... some history... Ive been riding my 26" Giant Trance X2 for the past few years and loved the bike, done some upgrades here and there on it and always had a good time on it. I love the bike

Its done many many happy miles, its had sweat dripped all over it on many occasions, its conquered the summit of Breedts Nek many times, guided me safely to shebeens and other upstanding places which sell local brew. Its also done Joberg2c

In the past few months Ive been riding with JCZA, Karma, Mike Bike, Ross Winkworth as well as a few other mates that have clown bikes, those ones you know that have BIG wheels.

Ive battled to keep up with them on the flats and some climbs, so a few weeks back, 3 to be exact we did a Breedts Nek ride... I chatted to Kevin, another mate who has a spare clown bike and asked him if I could have a go on it, my first time ever, I was about to lose my virginity on that carbon hardtail big wheeled thing.

20km into the ride, I was loving it... different ride altogether, my very first time on a 29er

I was sold on it, Im keeping my 26" duallie.... Horses for courses

Climbing up Breedts was a sheet load easier on the carbon hardtail so I went and got me one of these last week, Giant XTC Composite 1.

The Rocket Rons are no longer on there, the legendary Dangle has put my tubeless Maxxis Ikons on it.

Umm... Ive read some *** praat about the bigger volume tryes making up for the rear suspension somewhere, ummm, its ***.

That bump is still there, that bump still goes through that big back wheel and smacks that saddle against your poop chute if you not careful.

1,8 bar... 1,5 bar... either way my nought isnt happy with the smack now and then, however I still love the ride thumbup1.gif

I have done the customary hub tradition when taking the pic

All I wanna do is ride now, the other night I almost mounted lights and did the spruit but decided not to as I was alone.

Best money spent this year, Merry Christmas... To me from me
