Not quite. The Strive is exactly that - an out and out race bike.

I think they missed the boat on the geo. Use the Shapeshifter to go from 64°-66° HTA and STA from 75° to 77°.

Another thing I've noticed; Strive CF 5.0 is 15.6 kg. Dafuq is happening to bikes lately. Almost every new bike is 0.5 - 1 kg heavier than it's predecessor.

Is this all thanks to that stupid NX cassette, or cheap-ass carbon being used?

That's pretty damn fat for a carbon race bike.

My working class ali Trance weighs the same as my mate's SkouPonie Evil. Both with rather burly instead of lighter builds.

I'll take a bit of weight if it means stronger any day, but there no chance I'm paying that much money for a 15.6kg Canyon. norrafok is not just a place in Russia.

My old Cannondale MOTTO with burly parts spec was on the 15.5kg mark .... and I personally have no wish to go back to a bike that heavy again.

My mid-range Hightower CC is 13kg on the dot , I'm sure You could build one for 12kg and still have it ready to take on an EWS stage

carbon bikes just shouldn't weight that much

New Bronson is also a bit of a porker. You'd have to go XO1 build to get it anywhere close to 13 kg, or run 2.0" renegades to get it below 13 kg.

It's almost as if in the last two years every new bike has gotten heavier and heavier. I see this on Alu frames as well. The only bikes that seem to not follow that trend is Scott.

Yeah, it's mine he is speaking of, 14.2kg. Tbh I dunno where the weight really is - but it's there. Nothing too high end, I run GX eagle groupo, Ribbon fork, Spank wheels - which are on the heavier side, but my tyres are EXO casing, carbon bars, light pedals, etc.

Carbon does not necessarilly = light.

No complaints though, got an extra 15kg to lose before I would even go down the weight weenying route.

For reference:

You can get a 29" Radon Swoop in alu for 14.2kg (S frame) for a lot less dollas than the new Strive.

I approve of this comment

Sidenote: the mid spec one (pictured above) with a lyrik RC2 is absurd value for money

It's important to note though that the tyres this comes with might need replacing with something heavier, so dont take it as 14.2kg, more like 14.6kg
