Yip come on!!! Send positive vibes!

What sometimes happens in these cases they give you medication to prevent swelling, so the spinal cord won't swell and damage itself more. The problem is the meds also suppress your immune system so you are more susceptible to infection!

Hope the infection is stopped in its tracks!

Be strong fellow cyclist!

Any update Meezo? he is in my prayers

Sent a message now requesting. Last i heard says he's got feelings in arms up till wrists nothing in hands which was very sad.

It's been quiet for reasons i didn't question. Again not the place to discuss buts its the month of fasting.

Will try and get a clear update asap

Cool Meez. Obviously this is the time where a lot of personal soul searching comes into it - to conform to the islamic norms (fasting for 30 days) or to preserve one's life - also commendable in the eyes of Allah (from what I understand, at least)

Strongs to the guy, man. I (almost) did that drop for the first time on Friday. No way I would have done that as a beginner.

Hope he heals up dude. If he has feeling in the arms, odds are that hands shall come back in time. Just make sure he stays positive and upbeat.

I just had a meeting with Tokai management regarding this incident. They had a call from a rider stating that the Fairie Garden bridge is unsafe and it was the location of the riders' fall. I needed to clarify some details.

About the bridge, I have had my eye on it for sometime and while not unsafe in construction, the combination wet and shade provides perfect conditions for the.. I can't describe it any other way.. snot that forms on the wood. It can get so slippery that even walking on it would need ice skates. The FG bridge is nowhere near that slippery yet, but on the border of Tokai Lower there is one bridge that took myself and my riding partner down so suddenly that it took at least 10 minutes to untangle the bikes, before we slipped and got them tangled again while trying to walk off.

The FG bridge will be rebuilt with CCA treated wood.. nothing sticks to CCA.

About the Quarry accident, just to clarify that there was 1 reported incident, 1 ambulance driven in and 1 rider evacuated that day.

The Tokai senior ranger met up with the parents when they visited the area where he fell and mentioned today that she is astounded at the positivity of the parents. She is amazed at the strength of that family! I believe he will be in good hands.. Thanks Meezo for the updates.

So it's been a while since I've updated.

The rider currently is a quadriplegic.... he's currently in rehab, and from the family is saying there's still hope he might be able to use he's limbs! So please continue to keep him and he's family in your thoughts and prayers.

I mean just think, now the other day we had the dh champs. Congrats to all, and be safe out there!!!

Thanks for the update meezo. At least there is hope and, while most govt hospitals are in utter disrepair, we do have some of the worlds' best specialists here in SA.

Thanks Meezo. I'm feeling sorry for myself of late - poor decisions and robbery but this puts it very much in perspective.

I'll remember to send a message of hope for him.
