I've got one of those Arc stands. It's really useful, could do with a (little) polishing / better finishing. The rubber pads in the jaws have come off mine, and the edges of the jaws should be rounded IMNSHO - they've scratched my bike (due to me not being careful) otherwise a good local alternative :)

I use a holdfast towbar rack fitted with a duplicate base onto the floor. This allows me access around the bike.

Try one of these

Look at how it gets used on the little pictures...

I have one, and it is useful - although my Parktool stand gets more use.

I find these very unsteady. Not sure if it is only me. But at my age, most things are unsteady.

Paid R1099 for my Park Tool PCS-9 from CRC last year.

Rubbers are all still in place, no frames are scratched and it is sturdy as can be.

- Ive used it to hold a fork in place when I cut the steerer tube shorter.

- Built the Morewood on it.

- Serviced my 5 bikes on it.

- Held a handlebar in place to help with brake bleeding.

- Clean the bikes on it every week.

You will find more than one use for it and will most likely use it once a week.

With some things you simply shouldn't skimp.

Would you put a R50000 bike on a R500 stand that some oak, with a welder and some square tubing left over from building his carport, put together?

Save up R250 a month over 6 months and you can buy one. You won't be sorry.

How long ago did he build his carport and is it still standing? :whistling:

Saw at Mica Hardware that they are selling a stand there for about R600.00 Quite a well known Toolbrand, not sure which one.

does anyone know what brand this is? saw one at my LBS - recognized the brand but cant recall it now? It was R900 at my LBS - so will gladly pay R600 if I can find it in JHB at that price.
