Yepyep agree.

Edit: dipslick I find it interesting that your name is not written in capital letters...

Oh it's actually very simple I am not "ALLOWED TO USE CAPS" but sometimes ADMIN TURNS A BLIND eye. :)

Let them have it. It was a pit of EPO, transfusions and murk and you couldn't find any one in the top 50 who wasn't chomping at the bit like a crack whore.

Put a big ring around it and call it a bad time but the people who won still won. Even then you didn't win a tour by sitting on the couch eating pizza and watching baywatch.

Gotta love Ulrich “I’m not claiming any of those [Armstrong] wins. I just want the victories that I obtained on the bike. I don’t want to win anything by default,” said Ullrich... like they were going to give them to him!

Why should they? Its a fact that in my working environment there is a lot of corruption and underhanded dealings. Lets say I get fired should i do something dishonest, they will laugh their buts off if a colleague says, but corruption is rife and no one seems to get fired that easy and that I should get my job back.

Pro cycling is exactly the same. Its their jobs, so if you dont play according to the rules, you gotta go. Its the only way they could at least attempt in getting the sport clean. Or without cutting any corners, they can just as well have a doper TdF and a clean one.

I thought that was the message from LA himself during the Oprah interview. Or is the point now that somebody else from within the ranks is saying the same thing?

Agreed..

My 2c.....

He was the best tour rider for those 7 years in my mind... Think all ex-pros who raced with him will agree.

I always find it interesting how when any cyclist loses their title due to "cheating", the second positioned cyclist almost never accept the victory.

Like the 2010 TdF title that went to Schleck after Contador lost his results after failing a doping test. Schleck's immediately responded by saying "in he's mind Contador was still the winner" - ?!?

I'm sorry... But to me this can only mean that the pro's all understand what's going on. They know they are all already competing on the same "level" playing field.

Now, Armstrong was probably the biggest (and smartest) dope, but he also was a fanatic professional (and a windgat bliksem, bully, etc etc), doing everything at 110%. But he's obsessive personality gave him those victories.

I was never a fan of Armstrong, Ullrich was my man for yellow. Back then I knew they were doping, just like I know many pro's still do. And, in NO way do I condone doping or make light of it, it's an evil in our sport. I've only accepted it in the same way as many other issues that's simply a part (fact) of life.

In a way, part of the definition of "Cheating" sums it up for me:

"It is generally used for the breaking of rules to gain unfair advantage in a competitive situation"

If Armstrong's contenders were doping - it wasn't really an "unfair advantage" - therefore it's possibly not even cheating in the full sense of the word  - at least not against he's competitors. It does however break the rules and cheat the public, fans and young hopeful cyclist who aspired to be like him and become a pro.

It's very likely that those 7 victories will go to cyclist who also doped - no sense in that. So yes... Give them back to Armstrong. He did finish in Paris with the best time on the clock.

There's allot more to be said and debated... But think that's 2c worth now... :whistling:

I've got no love for LA or any doper to be honest but the reason they have left the sheet blank for his wins is the whole thing was so stinking and corrupt it'd be an embarrassment to try and find a clean winner. Who knows how far you'd have to go down.

So the TdF say we'll leave it blank forever to highlight a bad time... nope, like the UCI and the major structures that were complicit in that time they are trying to deflect and LA is the best bet and yup, he was king pr*ck but at that time doping was epidemic. It's just funny that every living rider that's done the TDF was invited to night of stars at the end of the 100th edition except LA... So all the riders revealed by the latest French investigation in 98, the festina boys and Ulrich all got welcomed with open arms. Joke.

Until there is a full TRC style investigation which includes the UCI, McQ, TDF organizing body as well as riders etc then everything else seems like a PR blame game to save face and protect assets.

Yes, why not, go ahead, give him his wins, create a president that if everybody keeps doing it, they wont take away everything from you, go ahead and encourage everyone to dope rather than just the one or two cheats, thats a sure way to get the sport clean.

I wasn't aware of that but it puts the UCI on the lower than sharkshit rack for me. I remember other pathological liar winners too. Why were they invited?

It is a mess and has spoilt the greatest show on earth for me.

I agree 100%

Was not aware of that! This really puts a damper on my enthusiasm for watching any of the major races, classics or tours. Shocking statement by a corrupt bunch wankers. They surely lead by example
