mikethebike234 Posted January 21, 2014 Share It started off quite well I bought her nice new wheels, a new cassette even new cranks, I cleaned her, lubed her every week, I promised her we would do the argus together. we rode around the peninsula together, we rode tokai 3 times a week ...then I got my wife pregnant with our 3rd kid ..it was fine until about 3 weeks ago the due date for nr3 was around new year. My training was going ok ... new year came and went, we went into baby overdrive had to get things ready you know ..... then she was a week past due date then 10 days then baby arrived on the 10th jan a very cute little boy which makes it 3 boys .... then I went for an op to have the baby factory decommissioned and oh dear that training has kinda gone for a ball of ess h one tea ....and I am now not getting much sleep, my wife is taking strain with this one and hells bells I'd forgotten what a mission newborns were (no2 is six and a half) So now I am contemplating not doing the argus. I just don't feel like its gonna happen So tomorrow I will try riding my bike and see how it feels then I will make a decision, the doc said it should be ok the op was on Friday. I just don't want to do the argus unless I am fit enough to enjoy it and boy do I feel a wreck at the moment. Worst is every time I go in the garage I can feel her glaring at me ...... like a scorned lover...... Wannabe
ichnusa Posted January 21, 2014 Share Sorry...Had the op after number 2... best thing ever! Good luck, it will get better, I promise! PS: do the Argus, even if you do not do a single ride between now and then!

Madlight Posted January 22, 2014 Share Had the op done after no.4 ... hang in there buddy. The only way that I managed to keep going with a new squawker in the house was setting up an indoor trainer in the garage. The Tacx with real life video became my best friend for a while. And guess what.... the little loved to lie in her cot and sleep to the sound of the trainer. I guess it sounded a lot like the womb. Managed to train and earn brownie points early mornings before work.

V12man Posted January 22, 2014 Share I discovered that the rug rats sleep well to the sound of a trainer whirring in the room.... so training time became after the midnight feed...
Steven Knoetze (sk27) Posted January 22, 2014 Share Bunch of breeders!!! I'd say do the Argus, take your time. If anything it will give you some alone time. Edited January 22, 2014 by sk27 ichops
ibruegge Posted January 22, 2014 Share Reality check: It's just a bike race. Congratulations on your family addition. You will sleep, shag and race again, just give it time. ichops and Steven Knoetze (sk27)

Bigjim Posted January 22, 2014 Share How long does the Doc advise from the time of the snip until you can train/ride again. I need to get mine "done", but trying to see where it can fit in the calendar without missing too much

I played golf the next day - walked all 18 holes.... with a caddy.
