[Event] PPC Kremetart Stage Race

The Guy in Pink

Recommended Posts

I emailed them this morning, and my query has been sent on to TIMEME/LAPIO.

I will post the response when I get it.

I did the same thing and it was sent to TimeMe/Lapio as well. Hope they sort it out soon! Don't you miss Championchip!!!

Do they realise they have stuffed up most of the rider's times?

I see I don't even feature on the results of St. 2 :cursing: :cursing:

Neither do I.

There is nothing worse than someone who brags about how good their system is (TimeMe & LAPIO in the Kremetart Mag) and then does not even have results for a stage 48 hours later.

I had a target time of 5:30. I am close according to my garmin, but I never started or stopped at the correct time, so it should be close.

My times are out by about 20mins for each stage when compared to my Garmin.

So my results are a whole hour over my actual race time.

Not impressed!!!

My stage 1 and 3 results are within a minute of my garmin time.

Stage 2 is still a mystery

I missed the Kremetart this year, and judging by some of the comments re timing and the last minute route change, I'm glad I did.

Doesn't sound good at all, sure as hell hope they fix it for next year.

The route especially, it needs to be the full 4 stages or it loses it's character imo.

Apart from the timing fiasco, I kinda like the format (a few niggles that can be sorted). To go back over the mountain makes the race more "EPIC" and a steep challenge (pun intended)

I've only done two of these: last year and this year. The new route is 5km shorter but imo its tougher because of the long middle stage and the monster hill at the end. The organization from what I saw was good this year but not nearly as slick as last year, probably because of the route change one week before the event.

The big stuff-up is the new timing company TimeMe/Lapio who think its fine to go to sleep without the results being finalised. This was a special edition (25 years) for the Kremetart so I would think they would really go above and beyond the call of duty to make sure that from a timing perspective, nothing went wrong, and if it did (as is the case) that they sort it out before they go to sleep that night!

They obviously have all the numbers because prizes etc were handed out to people who do not feature in the published results.

Not a good start to the relationship between TimeMe and the Kremetart!

:cursing:

BDF never mind going to sleep before results are finished. Ive send an email to kremetart admin along with Gerrit and Barend from Timeme, out of office reply. Kremetart admin reverted back saying they will fix urgently but both are travelling at the moment..?? So seems to me Kremetart has been hanging out dry by these guys, I would not pay them.

for the rest, my first time riding and I really enjoyed, the difficult last stage made it a tactical race and those who did not hold back earlier on paid the price. will be back

From the organizers point of view, it must be quite tempting to keep the route the same as this year's. But they will lose entries.

I missed the Argus with the big wind. It is as if you've never ridden in wind if you didn't do Argus 2009. The same will happen to this Kremetart. " Otto's Hoogte ?

Ag nee man ,where were you with the BIG climb in 2014?"

Well done to the two hand cyclists.

They started first, came in to each stage just before the start, and headed out again.

We passed them coming down the mountain, back into town almost in the dark, with police escort.

I hope they get a result, and hope there are more in the future.

email from timeme received just now - WTH!!

Dear Cyclist

Thank you once again for attending this great legendary race. From our side we would like to take this opportunity to apologize for the inconvenience caused for some of the incorrect/missing times on certain stages, due to acts of nature beyond our control. The Lord Almighty decided that on Friday night he is going to send us wind not known to Makhado (Louis Trichardt), to clean up all the dust of the roads for a pleasant cycling event. Unfortunately this also damaged the Cellphone towers, networks etc.

Our IT team is constantly working on this to rectify everything. Please take hands

That's a pretty decent result. I took a chance having been sick in bed a couple of days last week. Made it up the mountain then turned around again. Was back in town by 8 thenn waited for the truck with my bag on til 2'30
