The profile DMC007 posted looks so much smoother than the one on the race site. I have decided to ride the one DMC007 posted...

(LOL)...The other one just scares you Hey..Here's another angle.

It's not the "slight uphill drag" that worries me. Rode that stretch a couple of weeks ago and it was... horrible! Mix in short-routers (for lower long-distance groups) and possible traffic. Almost expect more complaints about this than the 99er gravel section.

Have'nt cycled that portion in a while. Whats the condition of the road surface. Still so K@K ?

Nope. It has declined steadily... :whistling: That was what I referred to with the "horrible"... the road surface.

Thanks for the feedback on the map. I do notice that the op refers to a 101km ride whereas the brochure refers to 108km....anyways this looks to be a fast one.

(LOL)...The other one just scares you Hey..Here's another angle.

The race site one has effectively TWO Helshoogtes at the beginning... lol. And I have replayed the decent off Hels from Die Burger in my mind's GoPro and I cannot remember a sharp incline after the descent... (but I may just have missed it from oxygen deprivation.)

I still cling to your one as the better option! :whistling:

Is the route now 90km like DMC007 profile says or 101km like this thread OP states or 108km like the tour de stellenbosch website says?

The PPA site has been updated to show 108km as well. I think that's the new official distance.

EISH!

the road going from Paar towards the finish is narrower than the 99er back roads with no yellow line....plus short route joining up with long route.

Do not know why the organizers cannot learn from other peoples mistakes, this is def a no go and think insurance companies will start excluding certain races with logic like this. :cursing:  :whistling:

This race always use to be my fav race.

P.S - Please read the route before entering!!
