So what is the correct feeling when one of your mates gets a new bike?

Should you

a. Feel incensed with jealousy and tipex him out of your address book?

b. Feel really happy for him and wish him many happy hours on the new pony

c. Go and buy yourself a new one to make yourself feel better?

When we first arrived here in witbank 29ers were a rarity . Then one guy bought one and as it happens with a new bike he was suddenly beating everyone. So over a year everyone bought 29ers and had their turn of being the fastest.

Recently someone bought a carbon 29er and so the upgrade war continues.

Interestingly enough the strava king of this area was until recently riding a 26er SS with v -brakes

I have ridden with him on many occasions. He is a real live monster on the bike.

I know several riders who can be on shopping trolleys and still make most of us hub experts look like monkeys.
