Spokey Posted November 13, 2018 Share Budget option thumpers I would recommend time and time again are the KLR and DR 650's.Budget not being an issue I'd definitely pay whatever I needed to get a XT660z.I am a big fan of the humble KLR. Perhaps because the Garden Route is saturated with big GS’s. The little KLR is great on the back roads, mine lives with knobblies on. Yeah, perhaps it barely pulls the skin off a rice pudding, but it is fun for me. As I mentioned in previous posts, scratches and dings from off roading don’t stress me out. An XR650 or XT660 would be nice in the garage, something for my son to ride when he visits.
