Fatboy-with-a-chip-on-his-shoulder is sitting on the back of the peloton at the moment, a regular sight during the Vuelta. He lost 20 minutes yesterday. There's been a picture doing the rounds today of Betancur hiding in the draught of the team car, but it didn't help him back.

"I love the Vuelta a España and also the country. I love being in Spain. Yesterday was quite disappointing not holding on, it was too hard and too explosive. Today was better. I needed one or two days to adapt to the heat. My teammates were there to help me and motivate me, and it’s great to win another stage of the Vuelta.”

With all the running around yesterday, all I saw was the last 5 km.

Still have to get used to Sagan not competing for the wins.. very weird seeing him work for others.

After snow at the Giro d'Italia and more rain than you could ever want at the Tour de France, this year's Vuelta couldn't be any more different. Reports coming through that the thermometer has hit 40 degrees at the finish. There'll be a few riders wishing they could take the ice bucket challenge right about now.

Hmm, another day for John Degenkolb?

Hill is too small and most of the sprinters here are climbing fairly well so I cant see them getting shelled, Sky tried to reduce the pack yesterday but of all the real sprinters they only got rid of Bouhanni, which was a bit of a surprise as he generally does climb well, but again the heat may be an issue.

I think you're spot on....some of the riders are battling in the heat

I was reading reports from teams that they were using between 200 and 250 bidons per team during a stage.

That's 22 to 28 bidons per rider during a stage  . A lot of them would obviously be water poured over the head.
