The chicken run should be an option.

I selected two.

Mostly a combination of main line (although this is not always faster, just ridden a lot more) and path of least resistance, with some creativity to create flow and speed.

"closed eyes with hope for the best" only results in ER visits.

I have seen increasing "straight and fast" lines on our existing trails, where peeps have too mutch aproach speed, and are too lazy to hit the brakes, and bomb straight over the corner...

I call it the twentynaainer line. (but only in my head, because I dont want to be kicked off the hubland)

I've picked more than one, but for the straight and fastest line, only on trails that I know - not all trails. Once you've learnt/been shown the best line, you'll be amazed at the speed you can carry through a section where many others slow down, take the wrong line or worse... crash.

For most of the time, I follow the Fast and Flowing option as well as the only roadie option.

Depends on how the legs feel. If I'm strong I go fastest line, don't mind gaping a few rocks on the way.

If the legs are heavy then slow is smooth and smooth is fast.

Often times it's a case of the line I intend to take is not always the one I end up taking. I try to be brave and will go at something with brute force and hope for the best. I've often slammed on brakes as I'm about to tackle something as I start to doubt and then I head to the chicken run.

But I must say that feeling of nailing a stretch of single track or a getting a corner right is really cool.

I'd like to believe I'm getting braver.
