My whinge is the sudden dropping of motorportt. Last year and previous years we had lots of top level international motorsport (I am not referring to the overpaid and mega-boring modelling procession that passes for F1). I was going to drop dstv after the TdF (got to support Qhubeka). Sadly the wife got hysterical about having no more swerial garbage so I have to keep wasting money on those rip-off artists.

Maybe I should just get a divorce and live with my bikes!

Just do it, she will get over it. If you have a adsl line at your home, try Netflix. She will love it

HBO Now for $14.99 a month will solve that (and you can do a 30 day trail for free)...  https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/hbo-now/id971265422?enlh=1.500062.500061.500057.1.&mt=8&ls=1

Eish meant to respond to your post and forgot. The PS4 can only stream from netflix etc. Which makes it a crappy media server.

I need to sort out my Tour de France online viewing before I end up reconnecting again. Tried last year to no avail. I only have a 2mb line. :(

I normally dont recommend stuff like this but the piratebay normally has the stages just after they finish.

Still trying to figure out what Im going to do this year.

Buy a raspberry pi2 and SD card, load Kodi software onto the SD, then install fusion and xfinity wizards.  Finally install the addon vdubt25 which is all the sport.

You will be able to watch TdF on Eurosport through the vdubt25 addon.  The Canadian sports channels also cover it.

Google how to... is easy with lots of youtube vids.  I ran on a 2mb line for a year, now Telkom have upgraded my line to 4mb, I have upgraded, but will work on a 2mb line well.... there is occasional buffereing

buy a pi here http://www.pifactory.co.za/

It is preferable to have router close to tv so can connect pi to tv and router.

Once you have done the initial set up with a keyboard and mouse, you can ditch them and control the pi via your tablet or smart phone, there are many xbmc remotes or controllers apps you can install

Edit: you can actually install Kodi on your PC and laptop if you want to try it first to see before getting a dedicated media centre like a pi

Kodi is here http://kodi.tv/

Thanks for the tips on the sport through Kodi, shaper.

I'm downloading as we speak to check it out.

Also register on the website www.filmon.com and keep your login details.

With the xfinity wizard it will load "Expat TV" and the fusion wizard should load "FTV". When you run the addons they will ask for your filmon login details. Input the info and you will get all the UK free to air channels. ITV4 often covers the cycling too :)

Can do a trial run with the Giro before you decide whether is good enough for the TdF and ditch DSTV :)

Once you get familiar and start playing around with kodi, you can load "FTV Guide" which will give you an electronic program guide of some 300 odd channels from uk, USA and elsewhere. A lot of the free to air channels will already be linked to the EPG, other channels you have to learn how to find them and then link to the Chanel in the EPG

Also read on the kodi website with regard to recommended addons and what they do... Can get movies, series ... You name it :)

Yes you can, I used a Gen 1 Pi for a year, is just a lot slower loading the epg. In fact still use one on my other tv's

Edit: used the biggest SD card you can, I have 16g... Helps with software being installed
