"Multichoice went bankrupt from arrogance".

(A comment I saw yesterday and which I thought had quite a bit of truth to it.)

I have not missed them even a tiny little bit for the last 4 years  since I literally threw their decoder out in the trash.

Edit: I pressed the "Haha" button.

100% this. I started trying to sort out streaming my Premium account and ended up cancelling due to the irritating (polite) service.

So, from Premium Package DStv, we downgraded to the Family Package and subscribed to Netflix - after a bit we then subscribed to Disney+. Our DStv is now cancelled and we're now left with Netflix and Disney+ (not that I have a problem with either of those streaming services), I'm not a big TV person unless there's a series or movie that I really want to watch, my Mrs says there's not much that she misses from DStv and that there's enough on Netflix to keep her going and our little one seems to be entertained ever so slightly with what's on Disney+ and with what's suitable for her on Netflix.

One we have been enjoying lately is to use a vpn to an Aussie server and then Channel nine now, which is the Aussie tv channel. You can stream for free. It has a lot of good stuff including "The Block". You can also stream SA vs Aus Rugby there free...

Speaking of Aus, I used Stan Sports for the Rugby World Cup last year. R109 per month (if I remember correctly) which allowed all the rugby plus movies and series. The ironic bit was that the feed was Supersport, with SA commentators (at least for the matches involving the Bokke).

News feed on 2 September had an article about the dstv board paying themselves some nice fat bonusses - https://www.bing.com/ck/a?!&&p=a10f306b277335a1JmltdHM9MTcyNTMyMTYwMCZpZ3VpZD0xMzU5Mjc0OS0wYjJlLTZkYjQtMmQ1MS0zNDg5MGFiMDZjNWImaW5zaWQ9NTIwMA&ptn=3&ver=2&hsh=3&fclid=13592749-0b2e-6db4-2d51-34890ab06c5b&psq=board+bonusses+multichoice&u=a1aHR0cHM6Ly9teWJyb2FkYmFuZC5jby56YS9uZXdzL2Jyb2FkY2FzdGluZy81NTgzNDUtbXVsdGljaG9pY2UtdW5kZXItZmlyZS1mb3ItcGF5aW5nLWV4ZWN1dGl2ZXMtcjEyNy1taWxsaW9uLmh0bWw&ntb=1

Glad their bonus's never came from my pocket. A couple of weeks ago I finally climbed up onto my roof and removed the old skottel dish and dumped it in the trash. They won't ever be seeing me again.

TIP - for those considering switching to OpenView .... they now use the old skottel and same configuration (no longer need to aim it North).

The current OpenView decoders even has the option the "watch (stream) on demand" the current movies ... with a ton of adds ...

Huh? Don't all satellite dishes need to be pointed pretty much North? Seeing as all geosynchronous satellites need to orbit above the equator.

Few years back OpenView used satelites to the North

dstv, and now OpenView, use satelites that are aimed "53 degrees East"

Mine is still up, but no cables attached. Keeping it as a sellable feature one day when I sell; maybe someone coming in wants satellite 😊😂

Hi Dave, we've just divorced DSTV and have a few streaming platforms but none that host the latest Block - which we were lucky enough to watch on Smarttube.

Question, with a VPN can I download the 9 Network app and stream via an Aussie server?
