It will get worse before it gets better.Get used to it

Our power has been off since 3AM this morning, I am getting used to it pretty quickly...

The biggest irritation about it is seeing all your neighbours with their lights on and going about things normally. There is some sort of camaraderie when everyone is being loadshed, whereas this just sucks. All I have is a reference number and the call centre telling me an artisan has been assigned...

We need people like you on board

Uh huh.....

You mean you need realists and not the type of person who thinks living in the land of the sun can feed you and pay the mortgage when the power is off?

You certainly have a grating attitude mate....

Still, on the 'bright' side at least the Eskom bill should be low this month....

They will just increase the per unit price to finance the shortfall. We are heading for a dark Christmas Eve I tell ya. Better leave a flame torch as the gate for Santa.  :whistling:  We are about to rediscover the virtues of man's oldest discovery.

I read something about EksDom is looking to increase rates to recover losses...

I bet my boss wishes we could do a crap job of something and charge more for it!

Our suburb had load shedding on Thu, the rest of the suburb came back on except our street affecting 10 houses. Phoned contact centre who kept insisting our power was out due to load shedding. Numerous calls Eventually on Sat our councilor made a fuss and they investigated only to find out the switch for our street had tripped, and all it took was to turn it on again almost 24 hours later.

I know it is being threatened to some in debt small municipalities eg Garies in the Northern Cape.  Sucks for the people that have paid the municipality for their power though.

And they should load shed the municipalities with outstanding debt... Should be simple...

Apparently the money Soweto owes has been written off.

I am surrounded by generators.

At least we have water.I can always light a gas stove or a candle but when I cant flush the loo its a big problem. My week long experience without water in winter was pretty sobering.

I do believe there is a big clean out coming in Escom etc but its going to take a number of years to fix..maybe even 5.So its bite the bullet or move back into Africa
