Circuit Breaker

There is a criek/grieck sound and it seems to be coming from the bottom bracket.

I had a local cycle shop look at it. I insisted it to be replaced.

The sound just got worse with every training session.

I took the bike to him again and he said something about the back wheel or hub, and that it is fixed now, but still the sound remains..

Any advice how I can fix the problem myself?

seatpost - the source of most of my creaks

Yip on my Turner 5 Spot it is always the seatpost. Remove seatpost, clean, apply a bit of grease and install.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate all the replies.

I will check all of this right now.

I'm just not sure what to look for when checking the chainring bolts...

Hi, its happened to me before. I loosened them up, degreased them and then I fitted the bolts back on the bike in conjunction with applying a silicone multi lubricant to the bolts and screw. Hope you come right

However as said above, that might not even be the problem. For me the usuall source of the problem when a creak starts to occur on my bike, is a creaky saddle as mentioned in the recent posts. Personally for me, Some silicone lubricant does the trick for that too.

Not to forget your saddle, can creak and seem like its coming from anywhere else but the saddle !!

I also had creaks I thought was the bb. The bike shop told me bb was loose and tightened it. Got home and the creak was still there.

One morning I had a light bulb moment. Went to my bike at 5:30am, took the saddle off and there was my problem. A crack in the saddle. New saddle and problem solved
