Any recommendations for accommodation that is wheelchair friendly close to the UTCT course? I'm looking for 2x couples and 1 x single in either a 2 or 3 bedroom that isn't going to break the bank.

For my first run shoe as a full time official runner I used the "Run Store" in Edward Street, Tygervalley. I think it was R150 for the analysis & free if you purchased shoes from them. All I needed to know was my gait, which was neutral, they made a couple of suggestions of what they had in stock, Asics, Mizuno & Saucony. I then purchased somewhere else as my budget allowed. Prior to that I occasionally ran in basic Asics Gels, for 10years actually, I initially purchased & used them as a gym workout shoes but I've also run 2x half marathons in them as well. Point is any decent shoe will do the trick for a couple of 5kms per week.

anywhere along course or close to the start/finish venue? Also for which distance as not all the distances start at the same venue.

Preferably close to the start/finish at Gardens Rugby Club/Stadium as I'm targeting the 100miler.

ooooh. must be loads available in that area on airbnb, book early. wheelchair friendly might push you towards hotels.

or go find something in noordhoek. then you can finish the beach section and pull out easily with dignity.

ah ok I did the 100 miler in 2024. Last week I had a quick look at Airbnb and couldnt match anything you required in that immediate area. The 2 neighborhoods that surround the Rugby Gardens Club is Oranjezicht & Vredehoek, you could even cast your net a bit further to Gardens & Tamboerskloof. I suggest hopping onto their respective Facebook groups and ask there if anyone knows of something available or if they could make recommendations.

Great @ChrisF, the best is, he will remember you, your gait, shoe size, he even remember all the Upington folk.

How is summer training treating everyone back in SA?

Up here in the North, the highlight of the day is an extra 4min of daylight 😁

Thought it was going okayish .... until it got to 38 degrees on Saturday's Banhoek Trailseeker .... felt okay, but recognised the small errors kreeping in .... took a 10 minute break at the next water table before completing the race.

Many riders were off their bikes noting cramps ... more stopped in the shade ...

In 2024 when 5 people finished (including you know who), he was one of only two to start the final lap and not complete.

He's a tough frenchie, with incredible hair.

Went down some rabbit holes after my son asked me a question. In essence what percentage of the population has ever run:

1. A half marathon. About 1 percent.
2. A marathon. Less than 1 percent , some sites state it is around 0,1 percent.
3. An ultra. About 0,007 percent.

While these figures are estimates they are interesting. Anyone got better info?
