Lexx Posted October 26, 2018 Share I have also not entered, the first time in five years. I must say the last week was very tough for me. I am starting a "No, I am not running Comrades" supporters group. We will regularly be meeting at a pub of choice for our meetings if anyone is interested. The supporters group will also be saving up for an island holiday the weekend of the 9th of June 2019.... with no cell phone reception. I am open for fundraising ideas. PS. Forgot to mention the topic for our first meeting is: "How to successfully convince your club friends that you are DEFINITELY not running Comrades next year"Im in Hacc.. I will Skype from Komatipoort at our local Watering hole Stretch and Hacc

Chris_ Posted October 26, 2018 Share I'm sitting with a massive dilemma. I've technically qualified for boston... But it's a week before my mates wedding in Sri Lanka...I just can't afford to do both trips....I better buy those Sri Lanka tickets before I get complacent about seeing all my mates!! Buy the expensive gift on the registry and your mate will be fine

dave303e Posted October 26, 2018 Share To be fair you not being at the wedding will save your mate some cash as well, weddings are expensive, I rate send a gift and enjoy Boston Barry Stuart

Plus : Just promise him you will be at the next one (Its Friday after all, ha ha ha) Barry Stuart

Will that makes the decision much easier [emoji23] To be fair..I prob won't qualify because I'm only 3.5 minutes below my standard and I read your need to be closer to ten minutes.. But hey... Why not try
Ferret69 Posted October 26, 2018 Share [ Odison.. How did it go? . I'll let Ferret report back on his outstanding run Odison.. How did it go? Well Done again Stretch, Sorry we only had a brief Chat, things were pretty chaos with runners not being able to get back in the stadium after we finished. Short Race Report - Plan was to run 3.50s for as long as possible and look for a 2h42-2h44 to qualify to berlin next year (sub2h45 good for age entries), my PB was from 2016 Cape Town 2h41.57. But thought that was a bit out of reach. Went through 5 in 18.54, bit fast but felt super, was in a Big bunch of close to 30 European Club runners and the First 2 Dutch ladies in their national champs... Decided I was pretty comfortable and Id just sit in tight.. hit 10 in 37.30, couldn't believe how strong I felt so stayed in the bunch... hit 21kms in 79.07 still with the massive bunch but now a lot of jostling and elbows started flying... Decided I felt good so went off the front with only 1 other guy... did my fastest 10km split of 36.50 between 20 and 30kms... still felt super until 37kms when my legs started to fade... hung on gamely the last 5kms, was tough being alone into a slight uphill drag into the wind. Finished 2h38.29 in 105th Position, 6th M40 plus... super stoked.. Entered Berlin 2019 while sitting at the airport waiting to come home yesterday.. Let the 11months to sub2h35 begin... Cant recommend Amsterdam marathon more... Edited October 26, 2018 by Ferret69 Stretch, Barry Stuart, shaper and 12 others

And a perfect introduction to big city marathons for me. That bit before the park at the end was absolute torture Ferret69
Ferret69 Posted October 26, 2018 Share Haha, yah I saw I got chicked 11 times... beat the Dutch champ though... she ran 2h42 Half PB is 76.18 but was back in March 2016.. actually hadn't run sub80 for nearly 2 years so hitting halfway at 79.07 was a little scary. Sub75 is the next goal before Oceans next year. But just so easy to run in Europe.. heart rate average was only 158... legs went before cardiovascular did.
