Barry Stuart Posted January 9, 2019 Posted January 9, 2019 So jealous of you guys doing the Comrades this year. Still Struggling with my foot injury, only ran 10km so far for the year, but hopefully by Friday I will be 100%, according to the doc and some new Meds. Looooads of time still. I haven't committed to it either, didn't pick up an entry. But there will be a ton when the sub window opens, I'm sure. Hacc 1
Frosty Posted January 9, 2019 Posted January 9, 2019 Hi guys, can someone please assist me. Does Suunto ambit 2 heart rate monitor work with ant+? Is it a decent watch? I need a watch that will show me pace distance and time o the same screen all at once. Will it be a good one to start of with. I can get one for a good price. ThanksAny reason why (only) this specific model? Is it purely because of the price you can get it? Many fitness devices can show all three metrics on one screen... Garmin, Polar, etc. Being a Garmin-biased user, they have customisable data screens that can show more than the standard info.

If I buy something with a heart rate strap, it must be ant+ so that it could work with my bike gps. After reading the reviews I see that the strap that comes with the suunto does not have ant+, but the watch is still compatible with other ant+ straps. I always run with my phone, but I now have a training program with intervals and I will have to constantly adapt my pace. I need something basic that wont break the bank. What would you recommend? What would you recommend? What price can you get the Suunto for? What unit do you have on your bike? As I’m Garmin-biased, I would only offer one of the following from the Forerunner range: FR 30 - R2.7k newFR 35 - R3k newFar 235 - R5k new Polar also have some good running-specific units, but I have no experience outside of the older units from the 2000s. As you mention that you’re using a HRM (strap), then all these units will work, and show the 3 metrics you want. You can even setup custom interval workouts online, that match your program, and send it to your device.

I have a bet with a friend that I can do the local parkrun under 18 minutes, so this will be a once of training program. I cant fork out that amount for running.

The suunto I can get for R800 (a friends and in vood condition) and there is also a garmin forerunner 210 available for R900. As I said in the post above, it is only a once of traing program. After that I wont be needing it anymore.

Mudsimus Posted January 9, 2019 Posted January 9, 2019 I am a cyclist, not a runner...local parkrun under 18 minutes.That would be seriously impressive. Akon 1

If you can run 5kms in under 18 mins, or even get close, maybe you should be 'a runner'! ScottCM and Akon 2
Lexx Posted January 9, 2019 Posted January 9, 2019 Lexx focus on a marathon and get that sub 3... Training for a marathon is super rewarding..I just need to knock 11 mins off [emoji1787]Ha ha ha, that is the plan at the end of the year. First I have to get through that small 161km Trail Run with 7500m Accent lol. Stretch 1

Ive been trying for 3 years, not a runner yet.???? Andrew Steer and Lexx 2

Mudsimus Posted January 9, 2019 Posted January 9, 2019 I got my Parkrun times down from 29 minutes to 21. To go under 20 I will have to follow a dedicated program. Not my idea of fun. Long runs are easier. Ronniek 1
Stretch Posted January 9, 2019 Posted January 9, 2019 I consider myself a runner.. And my 5km pb is just over 18min! Anything under 20 and you are a runner.. Like it or not! Odinson, ScottCM and Lexx 3
