Rode the red on Saturday. Top section of the red at the start is very loose and powdery/sandy. The trail really need a lot more water to compact before riding. Think that trail is going to be destroyed before the end of summer. Middel and bottom bits are okay, breaking up in places, but is very flowy and fun.

Rode the red route this morning, was nice and damp. By far the best trail I have ridden in a long long time, can't get the smile off my face. A lot of thought has gone into making this trail flow -big up to the guys who have put so much work into the trails. Cant imagine how good it will be when it has been ridden in and bedded down.

RIP Red Trail.

Tried it out yesterday (origin of my own trail). Dongas / breaking-holes aside, it was still a great ride. The first section especially!

Rode the Red yesterday again, its really rutted in the corners and seems to have taken a hammering since the riders from Origin of trails rode it. Not sure that it was the best idea to have hundreds of riders hammer it before it had time to settle. Its going to need some rain and some TLC some time soon.

Agreed... Rode it 3 times on the weekend and it is pretty powdery.

All in all the trail makes you feel like a hero.... The berms were seemingly made with protractors and lasers while the top bit has wall rides and just enough off camber fast bits to make you look sideways over the edge.

The black trail is techy and rad and requires balls of steel but the red trail was just smiles from start to finish.

If they have more plans I would love to see a few man made obstacles/jumps and some northshore sections on the next trail!

The middle section of red is terribly rutted out! The top and bottom are still holding ok, but I think as the middle gets ridden the most with people who must just lock their wheels all the way down?!

Also, thank the origin of trails (they did go down there, right?). But if you can get past the rRATATATATAT it's still a pretty awesome trail!!

yep, I'm pretty sure that was the main contributor.

Hi

I've seen on the board that the trails open at 7. Does anyone cycle earlier than this? I ask because it's getting realy hot (for me) even early mornings, so I like to start early and finish by 10 latest. So anybody that starts at 6?

Trail update: Fellow trail users we are making further headway in Jonkershoek and will have more clarity once the holidays are completely over. Once we've determined tree felling timelines, we'll know what trails as part of our bigger plan to attack next. At the moment The Waterfall Trail Head is complete meaning Blue (Neverending Story), Red (Bennet's Red) and Black (The Plumber) are open. Bennet has just cleared upper upper Canary (this trail will have a new name and for now is deemed a Red Line), but also note that felling might probably resume in this area so please take heed of workers, machines once the holidays are over etc. Lastly, note that although we have many directional signs in place, this is not complete since we are still very much in the building process and don't know exactly where the trails will be until this is concluded. Continue to enjoy the trails ... in the coming two weeks we will have more information on future trail developments. Finally ... HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
