Wind speed in CT harbour yesterday afternoon was 50 knots = +/- 90km\h. Hope we have better weather for the cycle tour!!Frustrating, even in Sea point the wind was a problem gusting in between the buildings.

The wind will be behind you at some point as its an out and back race, ish. :P

I am looking to obtain a substitution. Has anyone entered and now wants to pull out? I thought I had been entered by a sponsor last year, and only found out yesterday that I am not!!

Maybe start a sub thread

Try riding along Woodstock main road. Every time you pass the opening of a side street, you get clobbered from the side by something that feels like an invisible  freight train. It felt so dodgy that I got off the bike and walked a bit the other day. It was either that or getting blown into the traffic.

Forget about the wind. You guys in CT better do patrols around the mountain to make sure them damn smokers don't set it alight again.

Yip, went down Chappies and Suikerbossie, northern descent with one leg unclipped and dangling for greater balancing capability

Has never happened to me before

14 km/h on descending, keeping my deep sections connected to the tar

My ride avg speed was low low

If it is worse than 2009, I think it will be called off. okes got blown over on the start line, luckily I had a 13,5 kg bike then

Ja it was hectic, But I highly doubt they will call it off for wind. That would have to be a decision they make on the day and to tell 36000 people on the start line its off will cause a riot. I've done the race enough times in plenty different weather conditions and only last year did they actually adjust the race so hectically on short notice. I'v done the detour over ou kaapse, the windy one, Over boyes drive and any other modifications in the last 25 years. There is just too much invested in that great race to call it off. Sure if its very windy they can "advise" certain riders to not ride but otherwise its not known as the world fun ride champs for no reason. The ARGUS(CTCT) IS the yard stick. You can ride any other race around but everyone wants to know if you've done this race.
