94.7 without training at all. Is this possible?

It is not a case of the struggle or the challenge of getting it done.... All these look at me pat on the back threads are tedious.

Get up, do it or don't. It can be done, it has been done and in reality a lot of those guys didn't need 105 people to validate their efforts.

Do it for you or for a private bet or for a case of beer whatever... these threads are just a written version of selfies and someone elses meal.

I am banning myself from commenting for another year after this...... (I really am not a sour person, promise!)

Yep, some guys LOVE this reverse psychology strategy over their mates...

They say they haven't trained because they haven't been riding with their usual groups, when in actual fact its because the group is too slow and he has been riding at 5am every morning.

Then after the race when he has won his group and dropped all his mates after 10kms he will use the "i guess I'm just naturally fit" excuse and his mates who have been grinding away on their bikes daily and sweating blood(who are the 100kg plus dudes) end up despondent and selling their bikes....

Eddy rides at 0435... occasionally.... :) just this morning in fact...

Done a few Arguses (Argi? Argeese?) with zero training. You will need to have your saddle surgically extracted from your anoos at the finish line, but it's doable.

I do believe that 'Augustus' are the correct term ????

I had a 2 week break between the end of 6 months of Chemo and the start of 1 month of radiation treatment. I did my first Argus in the middle weekend of that break. Obviously no training...7hr23mn. It hurt like hell, but didn't hurt at all by comparison.

You'll be fine.

For last years 94.7 due to exams, never got a chance to really train, like the weekend before 94.7 i got a 60km ride and like few hour rides 2 weeks leading up to the race. I managed to  the 94.7 in 7 hours, it was painful, gruesome 7 hours, had to walk up a few hills and most of the steyn city part but i finished it in the end.

Ride it at your own pace, dont burn yourself out early in, and have a good time.

I've had one 32km road ride since last year's 94.7 and I plan to do it in around 3hrs. Also been too busy at work to train, so I'm not sure it's gonna be so much fun. Rode it last year with a cracked vertebrae in my neck and 2 broken ribs and did 3:14 so I might be ok. If it's going really bad I guess I can stop for beers etc and turn it into a fun ride

I have not been able to train for the 94.7 road cycle challenge this year. Is it still possible to finish the race considering?

You can finish the race, but your finishing time will be in proportional to the amount of "training" you've done.

Expect to finish around 6 to 7 hours if one has not trained for the event.

This is the story of my life nowadays, if you are an experienced cyclist with lots of miles/races under your belt you should be able to ride without any issues, add 30% to your best time and you will be fine. If you are a 6 hours + rider this may obviously be a problem and I`d probably not recommend it.
